FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

U.S.A. Florida

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

I think you can go to any of the Baptist's during your duration of nursing school and it is Memorial off of University. Specialty Hospital is also an option.

I've heard the first semester is supposed to be the hardest/busiest? Is this true?

The person who told me is a current student and said that they really try and scare you the first semester so that they can sorta weed out the students who won't make it.

Some of us are going to be meeting Sunday the 21st at 2:00. Meeting spot is Panera at the St Johns Town Center. Hope to see some of you there!

1st term is def everything youve heard about it and more. its not for the weak minded, and you really have to want it if you want to succeed in the program. people think that nursing is easy work, well 1st term shows you differently! good luck in your studies, and remember, pre-reqs are the easiest part of this whole process!

With those options for the first semester, Im hoping I can get a good teacher and be able to go to St. Lukes or Memorial

Ms Keister is awesome, and she doest 1st term clinicals at Memorial. She really is great, and has the best interest of you in mind. I would take her for all my classes if I could!

Also, try to get Burns for Pharm, she writes the tests and I heard she is amazing!

Good luck!

Still no denial letters?

Jen,

Still no denial letters for me either... :crying2:

First term really isn't that bad! You just need time management skills! I currently have straight As and I still have a social life! But then again I am used to taking 18 credits a semester so 12 credits aren't that bad to me... Go to class everyday and pay attention you will ace the tests!!!

Still no denial letters?

Not for me either.

I just got a major tease... As I pulled into my driveway there was a huge manilla envelop sticking out of my mailbox. I went directly over thinking maybe... just maybe it was an acceptance letter... NOPE! Just some stupid mail for my mother in law who has never lived at my address... Grrrrr. No denial letter yet either.
