FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

Published

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

:nurse:

Wow! That is a pretty high cut-off!

My adviser told me that for the last 4 terms (nursing application terms) the cut-offs have been steadily increasing. How much truth there is to that, I don't know.

I think the Summer 2009 cut-off was 190.24... that is a big jump for one year!

Yeah, but it is summer with only 98 accepted and there are a lot of people going back to school for nursing.

Is it true that the cut-off for fall 2009 was higher than for summer 2009?

wow. 197pt cutoff is high.

I wonder if it'll ever pass 200 for the cutoff.

Too bad for the people who barely didnt get in. Hopefully you'll get in the Fall semester easily.

For those who didn't get in, don't feel discouraged try again! They take the most in the Fall semester! For those who are in, hopefully I get to meet some of you during your orientation. I didn't volunteer but I will be down by the auditorium to give advice on who to take for the first semester!! :)

I thought they just tell you what teachers you have to take.

Each sections have different teachers, you get to pick your section and you want to get the section with the good teachers, like the ones who make the test! ;)

Thats cool. I thought the lottery was so you see what section and what teacher you have.

So what is the lottery thing for and how does it work?

Also, can you make a list of the good teachers and PM it to those who want it... like me? lol

They give you a paper with all the sections listed with the teachers and hospital. You pick a number and you pick the section you like if its not full, If you go to north campus right outside of the nursing office there are the sheets with the section for each terms on it on the terms communication board....

Jen,

I dont have Psy 1012 and my degree Audit is picking up my DEP 2002 which is Child Psychology. I asked the nursing department and they told me to speak to the Dean, He accepted it! He said more than likely if the Degree Audit accepts it then It should be okay. If he does accept it then Make sure he sends an email to C.J. (cant say) and then You email her and confirm that she received the email from the Dean.. Last but not least make sure when you apply again make sure you submit a copy of this email with your application.. That's what I plan to do because it's easy to forget and then they will think I dont have Psychology Done. Talk to the Dean, the nursing dept told me he probably wouldnt take it bc it's not Generaly psycholgy but I still asked him anyway.

So helpful! Thank you FutureRNMom!

I'll be sure to look for the sheet when I go back to turn in my titer results.

All this driving back and forth to North Campus and the Clinic has been crazy.

Im gonna miss my 8 minute drive to South Campus for classes.
