FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

U.S.A. Florida

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

:nurse:

Well, congratulations to everyone that got accepted.

One slot in Evenings and Weekends just opened up, as I was informed that I'm being sent out of area on temporary assignment for a few months. So congrats to one more person. lol.

Hopefully I'll be back in area in time for the Fall term.

She must have gone home! ;) Glad yours was easy. I saw another student that had to be poked more than once there as well.

Trying to bring me out of "lurkdom"?:) I was Ok, my husband said "What the heck happened to you!?", when I came out to the car. They got it on the second try though.

To anyone who is wondering, to have everything medical done there (drug screen, titers, immunizations,...) it was $238.00 (I have to go back Monday for the flu shot, but it's included in that price)

Now, off to find an open CPR class...:yeah:

Ronda, I'm taking one tomorrow through the American Red Cross "Herman Meeks". There were still spaces available as of yesterday.

So sorry to hear you won't be able to join us in the evenings and weekends class. Good luck in your new assignment.

They handed me back a copy of the drug screen in an envelope and said to give it to the school. Anyone know if we should just include that in the packet we turn in on 3/19 or do we physically have to give it to a particular person?

Yes, You include it in the packet. On the list it is # 14 . You will take it to Tarolyn Lee with #13 :)

When you turn in the folder to Crystal Porter(same place you submitted your app), they will direct you toMs Lee's office.

We used the tan folders with the tab, dont waste your $ on something cute.....

Next week we should receive via email an agenda for the Orientation and the Nursing Student handbook. They want you to read the whole thing.... they are going to read it to us.... anyway, don't make a copy, they had them available last time.

One consideration about the lowest point total......

Did that individual qualify for the Diversity Program (for minorities and men)? There is a specific # of slots set aside for them.....

Just a thought.

I asked about that in January and was told the spring session was the last one until if and when the federal govt decided to continue the program. It is basically a program that follows the people accepted for the diversity program through graduation. I never heard about it until after the deadline last november.

Can you try using a different browser? Like Firefox if you're using Internet Explorer, etc...? Or a different computer? It worked for me. There were a lot of random things you had to do though- like print a .pdf file and fax it to them, which I guess I'll have to fax tomorrow.

The lady at the UPS store said that sometimes it does that and it shouldn't be a problem... we'll see what the school says. I think the printing/faxing thing was for the criminal background check and not the fingerprinting. However, my system allowed me to send an electronic signature so I didn't have to print and fax. I did print the confirmation page for my records.

Just with all the other stuff...

hey. werent you the one I saw today? You got done fast

I got the same thing and it took a while. I Arrived at 9:10. Left at around 11:45.

They had to poke me in 3 places just to get blood.

The most wait was just waiting for the doctor for the physical. I was in the patient room for like 30 minutes

I saw you and "marina" today. Did you both get all the things you set out to do, done today?

Yeah. That was me. I was with my mom.

You arrived there at 8:30?

I thought I got there before you since I was sitting in the waiting room when you came.

No wonder you got done so quickly, lol

Perhaps we're confused about who was whom... (is that proper grammar?)

Anyway, I came in after "jon" and who I thought was "marina". Marina, did you have a cute little boy with you? I had a "peach" sweater jacket thingy on... long brown hair.

Oh wait! It just hit me... the girl I saw, her name did start with an "M" but it wasn't "Marina" Perhaps I was confused.

I ran around like a crazy person today. First to North campus, then to the Northside clinic for my drug screening, then to the UPS store on Baymeadows, then to my doctor, then to Quest Diagnostics for my titers. My insurance covers me under Quest. I have to go back to the doctor's office on Monday for my re-check but after that... I'm done except for my CPR.

I have been calling all the places on the list for the past 2 days and haven't heard back from anyone. I'm getting really irritated!
