Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL
I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.
I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.
Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?
Well, I did my physical this morning. I had titers drawn in 2004 for LPN school so all I had to get drawn today was the Rubeola (measles) because for some reason it wasn't drawn then. I went ahead and had a tetorifice shot and did my PPD. I went to the UPS store and had my fingerprints and passport photo done. The only thing I have left to do is the drug screen. That couldn't be done because one of my twins was home sick with me today and he just couldn't take going anywhere else. So, that will have to wait until next week sometime. Other than that I think I'm good. Now I just have to remember to get to the base to have my PPD read on Monday by 10 am.
It looks several of us got a lot accomplished today. It seemed overwhelming at first but it's coming together.
BTW - I have taken the CPR class with Mr. Meeks and people just showed up and he took them. This was a couple of years ago but he's a very nice man and probably won't turn one or two people away at the door. I would get there early and be one of the first in if you haven't reserved a spot. Good luck!

Oh yeah... I forgot about getting my picture taken. I have one from my passport but I hate it so I guess I'll get another one.
Okay, I just got a phone call from Herman Meeks. He said he only has 4 people reserved for tomorrow at 9am and if you want to come, give him a call tonight. He said he would be available until 11 or 11:30 PM!!!
Here is his number: 387-4277
He seemed like a really nice guy who said if there was interest, he could even try to do a class on Tuesday morning or on Thursday.
The class is 9am until 1 or 1:30 and the cost if $50 (he said that the paper had the wrong cost).
Anyone who is interested... I'll see you tomorrow!

Where is this class held?
I got a lot today too. Seems like a lot of us went the same route of going to North Campus, then the clinic, then the fingerprinting.
When I went to pick up the chain of custody form this morning, I saw that mistimartin had came like 10 minutes before me looking at the sign in sheet.
50 dollars seems a lot for the CPR class. I only paid 25.

:) That was me!
I can't find anywhere that is cheaper that I can get it done before the end of next week. I've called every place on the list they gave us at least twice and he is the first and only to call me back. For me, it is worth the $50 (which seems pretty standard to me, fscj charges $45 + the cost of materials) to have it done and out of the way tomorrow. I am currently taking 5 classes towards my AA and have so much due next week, I'm not going to have time to worry about this.
Oh, and for those going to the Herman Meeks cpr cert, don't forget he only takes cash.

I was the one with the little boy with me. I think there were a few of us there this morning. :)
Does anyone know if the titers really take a full week to get back?
