Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL
I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.
I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.
Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?
Thanks for the advice! I'm sure I'll have more questions do I will def let you know! I'm going to be taking 3 different classes at 2 different campuses so i'm anticipating this to be the most stressful semester yet. I know I'm going to be studying non stop, anlong with a hubby in school part time and 2 kids.....ugh please pray for me!
Just to let you guys know I ended up paying over $700 on equipment, uniforms, health requirements, fingerprints, and background check! If I was you guys I would definitely start saving up $$$$ NOW!!!! That didn't even include books and tuition! Luckily I was able to get the worksource grant to cover books and tuition, even with financial aid( which I have also and will be living off of due to not working) they only cover $480 for books and this term the books came up to $925.03 at the book store EXCLUDING tax! Books, tuition, equipment etc you are looking at close to $3000 if you have to pay for everything out of pocket!
congratsIm waiting for my microbiology grade and if I get a B like I hoped, I'll be at 103pts w/o the NAT.
I'd have 4 A's 4 B's and 1 C for my prereqs
I hear people get higher than 100pts(what Im aiming for) from their NAT around here.
You have a solid chance with those points, I received 105 points from prereqs and 97.28 from NAT and had a total of 202.28 and got in on my first time, don't stress it aim for 198 or better!!! With a 200 you definitely will get in!!!
ThanksI checked artemis and my professors have put their grades in.
A in A&PII and a B in Microbiology!!!
:)
How do we get our transcripts to apply?
Do we just print it from online or do we have to go on campus and get an official one or something?
You can either print out a copy from artemis or get official one from the school. I got an official one from the school, and it can be done at any campus so when you turn in your app you could get one from the North Campus office. Good luck with getting in next semester!!!!
CoolDid you higlight your stuff when you turned yours in?
I hear people saying you should highlight your transcripts and stuff to make sure they see it.
The only classes I've taken were my prereqs plus that Chemistry class I had to take so I dont know if it's really necessary for me
I did particularly because I took College Algebra and Statistics and I wanted them to use my grade from Statistics and not College Algebra. I definitely would though I know several people who had to go up to the nursing dept this term because they totally screwed their points by 10-15 points which caused them to be declined a seat!
Yeah, Im gonna highlight anyway.
It might divert there gaze from the F I got in chemistry the first time, lol.
I got an A the second time I took it.
About the mistakes, I heard oone girl I know got an acceptance letter fromt he program, but then got another letter 2 weeks they give to people who dont get in.
She called them, and they clarified that she didnt get in.
That must have hurt
I'm really worried now about even trying to apply. Most of my prereqs were taken while I was younger, in the military, and taking care of my kids. Needless to say, I'm not an A student. Majority of my grades are B and C. I just missed getting a B in my micro by a few points last semester. I'm studying for the NAT, but I think the highest I can achieve from that is 192 from grades+NAT. I should get points for my CPR, and I am a MA since 2007, but I went to school in VA. I'm wondering should I even try, or should I look into the private schools like Keiser or something. I need to be in nursing school this year, my oldest will be going to college soon. I can't afford to pay for her and mine education.
