FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

U.S.A. Florida

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

:nurse:

Ive been looking and there is nothing left at my campus so I am going to have to take it at another campus and find additional childcare.ugh, I should have paid better attention. I just don't wanna have to push applying for nursing school back another semester

I know how you feel I was in the same situation when I was trying to apply for the program, when I started in 05 chemistry was not a prereq, I had my daughter and when I came back in 08 I had to push my goal of starting the nursing program 2 semesters, word of advice take a simple chemistry like 1032 or 1020 so you won't be so stressed out!:D

Now Im trying to register for one and it wont even let me! Dang it I have so shot myself in the foot. I really thought that they divided classes into 8 weeks sesions during the summer

They have 16, 12, 8, and 4 week classes but for science classes they are usually 12 weeks, I took micro over this pass summer and it was 12 weeks long and we met Mon- Thurs for like 2.5 hours each day.

Im looking at the acedemic callender (this may seem like a dumb question) but it says there are sessions B12,B8 and B4 begining on Feb. 7th, classes for session c4 and c8 beging on march 7th. Is that just different sessions within the spring semester or is there a whole different schedual for those?

That all happens in the spring term

A16= the whole semster

A12= 12 weeks starting Jan

A8= 8 weeks starting Jan

A4= week staring Jan

B12= starts feb 12 weeks

B8= starts feb 8 weeks

B4= starts feb 4 weeks

C8= starts march 8 weeks

C4= starts march 4 weeks

Hope this helps they are all included in the spring semester just different start and stop times:D

Thanks so much for all your help. I guess I will just try to slip a chemistry in this semester and if I can't then i guess I'll just pish my application back another semester or try my luck applying without micro I saw where another person said it wasn't letting her register the other day. Maybe the system is just down or something...

Congrats! I am so happy you got in!!! Now you won't have to hold off another semster to apply for the program, Merry Christmas!

Yeah its going to be a pain in the butt but I'd rather take it now and be safe than be sorry later.Merry Christmas:) Don't know about you but Santa has some shopping to do:christmastree:

I just applied for spring 2010 and was accepted. The application process was grueling but worth it. I don't remember my raw scores but I scored in the 96% and above for everything except spelling. That section is tough. I am an avid reader and read really fast yet still was running out of time at the end. I think I scored in the 89% for that section. Don't worry too much. Keep your grades up and strive for A's. If you get all B's you'll be dependent upon the NAT. Be prepared to shell out some serious money the first semester as well, there are skill kits $89, stethescopes $80-$160, BP cuffs, uniforms, shoes, books, titers, shots, background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening and more. Save up now. I used to study just to pass the test and then let my brain dumb what I had just learned. You can't do that here. You will need everything science related. Good luck and if you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask.

FutureRNmom*(just got accepted for spring 2010 as well) thanks for the info about the calculators, I was unsure.
