FCCJ Spring 2009

Published

Hey all!

I was just trying to get in touch with anyone hoping to start the RN program at FCCJ in the Spring 2009 semester. Hopefully we can see what the points seem to be at or where they were for the Fall 2008 semester.

Look forward to talking!:nuke:

hey whitney, i would lov eto know stuff about mrs bridges, and thanks for sending me all that stuff for term 1, it was a huge help....eny advice for term two

Hey, I know you asked Whitney about Mrs Bridges, but I'm taking her now in 2nd term for Adult Health 1. All I can say is you will learn a lot, but it WILL be painful. She's tough but fair. If you have her for Techniques, please believe you will have a really thorough understanding of careplans and pathology because she will make you work. Hope that helps. Feel free to contact me with pm if you have any other questions.

Is anyone else having a tough time finding the shoes? I have been all over searching for some all-white tennis shoes that are name brand and not completely UGLY like the nurses shoes. I've had no luck. Everything I find has a little gray color along with the white and I suppose this is not acceptable. I guess the not-so-attractive nurses shoes with have to do. Can anyone tell me which shoes you bought?

I spent some time reading the nursing shoes forums on this website. There seems to be a few shoes in particular that a lot of nurses will swear by, while others are of the opposite opinion. I bought my shoes from the website Zappos which I heard good things about. They even upgraded my order to the next best shipping for free. The shoes came in less than 1 week, and they are all white. I ordered the New Balance WW811... they are all white with a little blue streak on the bottom of the shoe. What's great with the website is that if shoes are not comfortable or the right size, you can ship it back to them for free to exchange or get a refund. I have also read of some nurses recommending shoes by Merrel at their website. In the end, I would definintly encourage you to pick shoes based on comfort and not style. If the nurse instructors have a problem with the little bit of gray on the shoes, you can always pull out the white-out and go to town. Your feet won't thank you for style, but they will for comfort... and so will your back.

I still have to go out and get my shoes and khaki pants also. What is everyone going to wear Wednesday? I am thinking about wearing the blue polo and khakis but I don't want to be the only one. I didn't know what we were supposed to wear if we didn't wear that. Is it like business casual? Or any- old- day- at- school casual? I don't know but I'm excited. :D

At my orientation, we wore whatever we want. I know other semesters that met on here where the same color shirt or pin or something so they can find each other at orientation. I am going to be on campus that day for my last psych class (yay!!! almost end of term II) so if any of you want to meet me and show me your possible schedules, I might be able to help a little bit. I know I went to the library and looked up my teachers before I chose a section even though it did not really help because I had one of the last numbers. =)

Hi all. I was just wondering if any of you have a class on Wed. at the same time as Orientation? I have a class from 9:30 to 12:30(ish). I went to the nursing office (it said in the packet to contact them if you have a conflict) and all they said was to make sure I get to the end of orientation to register for classes. I am really thinking about just telling my instructor that I won't be in class that day... I don't want to miss any information in the Orientation, BUT with finals coming up, I really don't want to miss my class either. What are those of you with conflicts doing about it?

I have a class @ 1:00pm that day, which will make me late for class since it's at the Nassau campus. I talked to my teacher and told her I would probably be at least 30 minutes late. She was very cool about it and is working with me as far as the work I will miss. Have you tried talking to your teacher? It might work out a little better, but I suppose it all depends on what class you have and what work you will miss. Good Luck!

Since we'll be registering for our classes on wednesday at orientation, when is the actual payment for the classes due?

heads up about classes, pharm and concepts are practically self taught so the two teachers you should really be paying attention to are techniques, and health assessment....

hey... is everyone ready for orientation? whoo hew! so... i w looking on artemis and it still says that i'm not accepted into the nursing program... anyone else? maybe it's just because we haven't registered for classes yet. and on the registration front- i hope that nights and weekends students have good teachers for both sections since there are only two to choose from.

Artemis also indicates that I am not enrolled into the nursing program yet.

Orientation is on Wednesday morning, correct?

Specializes in Cardio, Surgery, Gastro, Geriatrics.

I was thinking of wearing my blue polo and khaki's. But as you said I don't want to be the only one.
