FCCJ Spring 2009

Published

Hey all!

I was just trying to get in touch with anyone hoping to start the RN program at FCCJ in the Spring 2009 semester. Hopefully we can see what the points seem to be at or where they were for the Fall 2008 semester.

Look forward to talking!:nuke:

Dosage Calculations, Med Term, and IV calc aren't very hard. You do have to teach yourself these things, but they have study guides and videos you can watch. Its just good to get started now because once you start classes you will tons of stuff on your plate. And you will go over Cranial Nerves in Health Assessment. I was just emphasizing that they are "Big" on tests and important in general. The key to nursing school is not over whelming yourself. You will be just fine!!!! :)

wow! theres been so much to do in that packet but i have just about everything done and ready to turn in wed. before i leave town... i was just wondering if anyone declined the hep b vaccine... when i went to get my physical and titer the lady told me that i wouldn't be done w/ the series so i should just wait and get it later. so.. is anyone else in the same boat or did yall get the vaccine?

Hot Choc.~I thought I was going to be in the same situation. I had decided that I would sign to decline the vaccine, and then go a head and get it anyway on my own schedule, but my MD said that everything was fine with my Heb B titer. I have to go talk to him Monday and get a copy. After I get that, I just have to make copies and turn it in... HOORAY LOL When I first started my packet, I was overwhelmed b/c there seems to be so MUCH stuff on it, but I realized there really isn't that much, it is just that you have to do so much running around... you can't do two things or more at the same place. That's a little frustrating, but it will all be worth it. I have a feeling this is the least stressed we'll be during nursing school.

I actually had a nurse ask me the other day if I "Had any idea how stressful being a nurse is" and that I should "think very carefully about my decision"... nothing like being supportive... That's the only person that has (IMHO) come off as unsupportive, everyone else has said it is all worth it.

I'm going into term 2..I declined my Hep B 2, but got a booster shot. Being a nurse is going to be very worth it. Don't let that person tell you otherwise. Some people are just unhappy and want people to feel the same way. You will be just fine. And running around for that stuff was a pain, but I think it was an adequate preview to the disorganization to come. lol Anyways...I hope you guys enjoy your x-mas holiday!!! And welcome to the program:yeah:

How's everyone doing?! I'm almost finish with everything on my packet. My uniforms came yesterday =)

HNG1334,

I'm all done with my packet and turned everything in on Tuesday but I'm still waiting to get my uniforms/nametags in the mail... it was a huge weight off my shoulders, but it also REALLY REALLY made a dent in my wallet. I was just running around trying to get everything done, not even thinking about where the money would come from and low and behold I'm gonna have to ask my mom for help with my rent for the first time in my life (I'm 25 btw). Its a little frustrating to think of all the money that we have to spend on uniforms and things like t but what can you do, right? Hopefully it'll all be worth it in the end.

Just curious... how much is all this stuff costing you guys?

I haven't kept exact track, but I'm putting everything on my credit card. I'd have to say that I've spent around $400 so far... that's just an estimate though. I still have to get khaki pants and a watch. I'm done with everything else and I turned my packet in yesterday.

hey whitney, i would lov eto know stuff about mrs bridges, and thanks for sending me all that stuff for term 1, it was a huge help....eny advice for term two

I've spent about $600 so far. I still need to get my shoes & khaki pants.

greetings to my fellow classmates!

i am anxiously awaiting the start of the spring semester. i have not had the pleasure yet to speak with any current nursing students to get a better feel of what is to come, but i have found reading the current semester's forum on this website to be very informative.

i am surprised that this forum is not as active as past semesters have been.

i have spent many hours browsing this website and others related to nursing. i hope i do not get through nursing school only to find out that the worst realities of nursing may seek me out.

if anyone has good information as to which professors to seek out, and the preferred hospitals for clinicals, or the ones to stay away from. i would appreciate the advice. a pm would be great if the information cannot be provided here in the public forum.

Okay, so we know that each semester they accept less students. I did not get in for the Spring with 174 points, but when I apply for Summer I will have over 220, if I don't get in... I'm not going to think about that. For the Summer they are only accepting Duval and Nassau residents, too.
