FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls

Published

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

I asked yesterday if I could make an appt, and they said no - walk in only. What campus were you at?

just spoke with the rn program advisor at north campus. she said letters have not started going out and that they will be sent out the first week in august. she also said that they have sent emails before but that was only when they where in a time crunch. the only letters that have gone out thus far are incomplete letters for those people who did not meet all of the requirements.

:eek::eek: tick tock tick tock tick tock :eek::eek::eek:

I went to North campus to turn in my W-2 and appeals. There was one person in front of me waiting to see financial aide so I waited five minute to see financial aide. Then she took the W-2 and appeal and had me fill out a second form and verified I had everything complete and said I could have a nice day. I have been to Deerwood, South, Kent and North for various admin issues, and North seems to have the "friendliest" staff to deal with in my experience.:)

Haidee: I took A&PII as a hybrid and made an "A", after making a "B" in A&PI. It was better for me to be in a classroom environment to learn more and do better. I then Took Chem and Micro as traditional classes and I feel I learned more and made "A's" in both classes. I sometimes tend to get behind in online classes, made a "B" in algebra:crying2:, so traditional classes work better for me.

1st week of August?!!! Are you kidding???? Oh my.........................

Kent. I never I have had a problem with Deerwood. If I call them, they always return my call and answer any questions and let me fax my info. Try to call them if they have a long waiting time.

first week of august is too late. i hope they do it sooner than that

thank goodness... that makes me feel a little better, i had heard rumors about them not going out till then and that would be about 8wks out, but i talked to my friend last night who got in for summer, and she said she got her letter after 4 weeks, but then again no one on here has heard anything so i am assuming that is a good sign meaning no one has gotten anything acceptance or denial...

What do you do as an LPN? A friend mention a similar idea to me recently but I am not sure what they do? lol Thanks!

In Jacksonville you really don't work in offices or labs much as an LPN, it's more nursing home and home health. They have medical assistants now that can work in dr's offices for like 12 to 14 an hour I think. That was my experience in job-hunting at least :)

That's also been my experience working in a doctor's office and dealing with other offices. They primarily use medical assistants, and you'll see a lot of job listings for LPN in nursing homes. It takes a special kind of person to work in a nursing home because it is DE-PRESS-ING!!!!! But, in looking around a couple of months ago at the different hospital websites to see what the job opening situations were, I did notice that Shands does hire LPNs. I only saw a couple of positions at the Jax Shands, but the Shands in Gainesville has TONS of positions for LPNs. From what I remember their mid-range pay was about $17-18/hr. But after getting some experience, they had a couple of positions that LPNs could move up to with a higher range of pay. Gainesville may sound far, but depending on where you are in Jacksonville, it's only about one to one and a half hour drive (I say ONLY an hour because I live in the outskirts of Jacksonville, and an hour drive is pretty normal for me, haha).

Plus, applying for RN program with LPN experience, we would get extra points. Hopefully none of us will need this alternative, but, should we not make it in, I do think this is a very good option to consider. From what I understand, they do most everything nurses do. They are just on a little bit shorter of a leash, so to speak.

well, thanks for getting a hold of her and giving us the update!!

if summer starting receiving their acceptances on march 10th (6 weeks after app deadline) and their orientation was on march 29th (almost 3 weeks later), it seems we will be in a bigger time crunch if we don't get notified until 1st week of august (which is actually 9 weeks after deadline) and orientation is sometime around aug. 16th (2 weeks or less later).

hopefully, we'll still get e-mails....

On another note, I got this info from another thread. If you buy from Amazon like I do, signing up for Amazon Student could be a plus with shipping and perks. One thing I found out was that if you have an existing Amazon account, you just need to change your email address to your school address. I hope this helps someone!

Thanks a bunch! I love free shipping and perks!!! :redbeathe

"Oh my" is right. :crying2:

I just spent a couple days visiting my sister in Georgia, which got my mind mostly (not completely) off of all this. I was really praying I would come back to some news. I find myself sighing a lot of long, desperate sighs lately. It seems to help my head not explode.

Nothing but junk mail today.

You know what I like to do sometimes? I take one of those return envelopes that says postage paid by addressee (i.e. the junk mail sender), and I stuff it full with as much junk mail as I can possibly fit in that envelope and still be able to tape it closed and then mail it back to them. If they're going to keep cluttering up my desk and filling up my trash too quickly and killing so many trees just send me stuff I did not ask for and do not want, then I'm going to make their return mail as heavy as possible and truly make them PAY for wasting all that paper.

Can you imagine the person who opens those envelopes? LOL

They see all that random junk come pouring out, and they're probably like, "What the....?"

ahahahaha :lol2:
