FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

They may be waiting until the 1st week of August so that they have the final grades from summer classes. I applied for fall 2010 but have not completed Micro yet. My summer Micro class ends on July 29th. There were quite a few people in my class that applied as well. The suspense of not knowing Yes or No is absolutely driving me nuts!

Well, off to spend my lunch hour waiting at Deerwood Student Services again....... wish me luck!

Those classes aren't used in determining entrance into nursing school. They only use the classes that are on the transcript that you submitted by June 1st. Micro is a coreq, and must be passed to start, but if you don't pass the class, they will just give your spot to the next person waiting that didn't make it in. Last term when I asked, they told me it would be another two weeks, and the very next day they sent out e-mails and started mailing the packets off (well before the end of term and before grades were posted, as a matter of fact, I still had a lab test, a test and a final in micro.) So, just because you are told it will be the first week in August, doesn't mean it will actually be that late.

Of course, I'm not working in the North Campus nursing dept., so what do I know....

"Micro is a coreq, and must be passed to start, but if you don't pass the class, they will just give your spot to the next person waiting that didn't make it in."

:confused:Really?? That's odd. Since Micro can be taken while in the program, why would they give a spot to someone else if she is currently taking Micro and won't get grades until next week sometime? I mean if she has enough points to get selected and gets selected based on what she applied with, the Micro will just be one less thing she will have to take to actually complete the program. I'm just not understanding what you are saying because I read on the program packet that you had to either have taken the class and have a passing grade on your transcript when applying OR simply be registered for the class and have it on your transcript when applying. Then you would take it in the first term of the program.

Appeal turned in. Deerwood wasn't so bad today, I waited until 2 to go so I only had to wait about 30 minutes this time.

yeah jen!!!!!:yeah:

micro can't be taken while you're in the program. it has to be done before the program starts. so we can be finishing it up now. when i turned my application in, the lady told me if i am accepted i will have to send my micro transcript ASAP. so we can be accepted without micro, we just can't start the program without it.

They haven't sent e-mails "in a time crunch"... we got our before 6wks- no time crunch there. It may not be until the 1st week of August, but I'm still hoping you guys hear something sooner! She would give the standard answer even if she knew e-mails and letters were being mailed tomorrow!!!

Well made the long drive back from New Orleans today. I kept refreshing my email on my Iphone like every 5 min on the way back just hoping I would get something since today is 7 weeks, but nothing so it made my drive seem longer, but my kids were sleeping most of the drive and it was all I could think about. Anyway, I'm going to get up super early tomorrow and drive out to North Campus to get there by 8am and submit my appeal paper work. I figured North Campus would be most helpful, because I'm sure alot of the students that come in there are nursing, so wish me luck, hopefully I will beat the crowd since I will have my kids with me too. Fingers crossed they grant my appeal.

I was told the same thing, that you could apply and be accepted for the program and the points would count, but you had to finish the class before the actual program started. When we called a few weeks ago, though, they said, no, that the points would not count at all and that they were using the points as of the application date only. It's so horrible not know which it is!!!! Can anyone say STRESSSS!!!

stress!!!!!!!!
