Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.
I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!
I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!
Best of luck & success to all!!!
Ok so I just have one small rant.... I got my tetorifice shot done on monday, and today is wed. and it still hurts like crazy! my husband keeps calling me a baby, but it is so sore! Tommorrow will be my last day of running around like a chicken with my head cut off, tommorrow I get my fingerprinting done, and i'm all finished :chuckle Now I just have to make sure My house is organized, and get some time in the sun before my life is over for 16 months lol! So just needed to vent, Oh and I'm down for a study group.. I live off of Merrill.. not to far from southside, or north campus, so we need to be planning this thing! I think these next 16 months will be so much easier with a support group! ok i'm gonna stop griping and get some sleep.. talk to you ladies tommorrow... hey I wonder if any guys will be in our term?
Cynical? ...no... realistic? yes! Look back at the thread for Summer 2008. The last post from one of the people that got in was the day before the semester started. Nothing since. We're all too busy and you will be too. Not to mention we all see eachother in class, we don't need to post.
I think that maybe the forum will die down a little, but I think we'll all stay well connected through other things like Myspace and stuff. I think it is important we stay connected to each other. A lady who works next door to me is in her 3rd or 4th term, and she knew a girl in another pharm class who got the wrong syllabus. She was studying way more than she needed to, the whole class was! At least until they found out from the other classes what they were really supposed to study.
For those of you who got your titers drawn at Northside, how long did it take to get the results back? Is it really reasonable to get the ppd done and then go back to get the results? I live in Middleburg. I can't drive up there three different times just to get all my stuff. Thank you. :)
Hey guys, congrats to all. I haven't applied yet, but I was just wondering if someone could tell me what is the highest score that you can get on the NAT(before the .64)? Also, what should I consentrate on the most while studying for the NAT? Thanks alot.
Okay, so if my math is right(fingers crossed)....... I got 119pts from the Nat. If I take the .64 away it is 76.16. I don't have my original test results(I accidentally threw them away), but I do remember that each question was worth a point. I am thinking that you can get a total of 100pts and then multiply that by the .64(or however you do it), but you can only get a total of 120 to apply towards your total points for the program. I am pretty sure this it accurate, but I could be off. I was always much better at science than math, if I had my scores I could show you(HA!) I hope that this helps.
"Type A Personailities..."
Its funny how that all goes away after the first term, then all you want to do is pass and get out. For instance, I have a HESI in an hour, didn't crack a book. Why? Because I either know it or I don't, I typically don't do well on the HESI and mathematically eliminated from an A. If I do well enough on the HESI and my Discharge paper I wouldn't even have to sit for the final to pass, and just a 40 for a B.
Type A personailities will do fine in nursing school, you just have to find that balance between school and your personal life...

I got my results from my titers back in just over 24 hours. They are really quick and efficient.
I'm all done with everything, but still a little confused if I have all the right paper work. Anyone who turns their stuff in today let us know what you turn in and if they are OK with it. Thanks.
Titers ::
Ok. I talked with C. Porter in the Nursing office about the lab work. We can use the "actual lab report" or a "photo copy" of the report. As long as it is legible/clear to read. Also, again I say, you can use previous blood work as long as the results have ranges and shows a positive result.
I'm personally going to my OB and getting all of the blood work from when I had my kids. Most of the time the blood work done during pregnancy shows the ranges of Rubella & Varicella (I am not sure about Hep B). The reason why I know is because I asked my current doctor on Tues and she still had my results from my first child in 1998 (lol)...But I would love to have more recent results. So I am going to use the ones from my last child born 2006.
I hope this helps! We future nurses need to stick together! lol. No seriously. I will post anything that the nursing office tells me from here on out...I ask a lot of questions!!!
