FAU Fall 2015 FNP applicants

Published

Hello. Just checking if anyone else is submitting their application for FAU's FNP program for fall 2015? I'm curious how many applicants they generally receive each cycle and how many they accept.

Ok. I didn't interview with Dr.Palma or Dr. Gordon. I interviewed with Dr.Bulfin & another lady. So you only interviewed with her ? Nice !

I believe anyone with an interview has a great shot. Just thinking why would they have us do background checks, fingerprinting , drug test ? Pay 170 $. Usually that's done after you get admitted. So I really believe we are in & that the interview is just a technicality ( I know it's wishful thinking) but hey... Lol. I'm optimistic

I have no idea why my comment didn't post!!! Gahhh! But I totally agree. I think we are technically already in, because background checks are really invasive and that one was $170!!! That's no joke!! I interviewed with two women, but I forget the other woman's name because I was so nervous and she didn't give me a business card. She was very sweet and encouraging, as was Dr. Palma. I completely forgot that she is a doctor, as I wrote a thank you note that said, "Ms. Palma". I've been working a lot lately and I work nights, so my brain is mush 98% of the time. I'm going to leave this job if I get into FAU, and go for something a little less demanding mentally and physically. Even with my interview, I was on very little sleep and didn't have much time to prepare. Oh well :/ just gotta push forward!

Kdsmith, I'm still hoping you hear something!! I hope all 3 of us get in. We deserve this. I mean, you have six years of experience in the icu. You obviously know a ton of stuff about nursing. I'm just surprised that you haven't heard anything, but maybe that means they know they want you.

I know they had some issues with NursingCas so maybe they will schedule more interviews.

I believe there still looking at applications.

I would call if I were any applicate & haven't heard from them by now

Thank you! I thought I applied for the Harbor Branch campus, which is where they have a low applicant list, but the coordinator said I put in for Boca. They even extended the deadline for HB to June 1. I've been emailing several different people to get some more answers, but no one has replied to any emails. The number at the HB campus is unmanned and instructs me to call the coordinator I've already been speaking to.

I called again yesterday and was told interviews were being completed today, to which I asked if that meant I had a definite rejection and also asked if my application had actually been reviewed. She started talking in circles about them still looking at applications, no I wasn't rejected yet. I tried to ask for some clarification, but she kept saying the same thing. I'm just getting frustrated and not too hopeful. My GPA is 3.1, not super competitive, but I thought I would at least get an interview.

Good luck to everyone, hope you got in!

My GPA is low too. But they also look at to see if your certified in anything like CCRN for example They also look at to see if your involved in any clubs or organizations. Any volunteer work ?? These things make a difference. I hope they do look at more applications & have more interviews. It sucks just waiting on an interview & then once you get it, you wait again. And certainly rejection doesn't feel good. I've been there & it's not a good feeling. Anyway I wish you all the best. Keep your head up.

From what I hear they have a point system. But if they extended the deadline for Harbour Branch to June 1 & that's the campus you truly want to attend then that's a good thing.

I would call NursingCas & see if they could switch the designation for you since u seem to get nowhere with the coordinator you've been speaking too. Or try & get someone else on the phone who seems to know more. Or maybe Karen kasmer can guide you in the right direction. She's usually pretty good about responding to emails.

Honestly my gpa wasn't high either. And I was sick when I was scheduled to take the GRE, so I didn't do well on that either. How can anyone do well on the GRE when it's a 4 hour test and you have a sinus infection? Hahaha. Well, ladies, it's officially the moment of truth. We should find out almost any day now. In my interview, they had said around the 14th, decisions will be made. I check my email nonstop and it's almost driving me crazy haha. I was rejected to 2 schools about two years ago and it really discouraged me. If I get rejected again, I probably won't apply anywhere again. I can't handle the application process, it's maddening.
