Fastest state to apply for NCLEX

Hi guys I need your help. Before, i planned to submit my application to California (I even asked you if you have extra Fingerprinting card) for my NCLEX but after viewing some of the posts here, I would say that it changed my mind.

Do you have any idea which states has the fastest application process (receiving eligibility and ATT) and the fastest to release the result? Pls, give me at least 5 states which have at least 2-4 months application process.

I still really want to work in cali bcoz most of my friends and relatives live there. May i just know how long does endorsement (from the state where I have my license to cali) take?

Thank you so much. :wink2:

Vermont don't have fingerprinting but they do have a minimum hours requirement, that's true. It's something like 400 hrs in the last 2 years or 900 in the last 5 years, if my memory serves me correctly. Anyhow, it's sounds a lot but it isn't really. It's equivalent to 16.7 hours a month over the 2 years or 15 hours a month over the 5 years!

You don't need a CES from CGFNS for Vermont, they ask for your transcripts to be sent to them direct from your nursing school.

You will eventually need your VisaScreen from CGFNS but at least going through Vermont means you only have to deal with them once! :)

Do you mean that the school and not the applicant is the one who will send all the requirements needed for the Application for Licensure in Vermont? or the applicant can still send the requirements as long as he obtains the transcript of records?

what do you mean by this? do you mean that in order to receive ATT from Vermont, you have to work 400 hrs in the last 2 years or 900 hrs in the last 5 years as a REGISTERED NURSE? What if you are just a new graduate? Was your hospital experience as a student nurse enough for this requirement?

I know Vermont don't require CES, but the state I am planning to endorse to does, so I had it done already. I wanted to just have CGFNS fwd this and the license/education verifications so I didn't have to get my schools to do it all again. VT said this was acceptable.

Vermont have added a statement on their website that receipt of ATT will take 3-4 months from when everything is received!!! How can it take that long? Why don't they hire more staff!!??

I heard on the grape vine that the person who normally deals with the ATT is/has been off sick. I think word got out that they were fast at processing & they have now become overwhelmed! oh well - guess you'll have to go with one of the other suggestions!

Hi, I applied to Micigan BON. Couple of my colleagues had applied and received their approvals in about a month and half. Foreign educated nurses need to be certified by CGFNS and have to send in their CGFNS CP verification from CGFNS. This service costs 75$. Once an application is received (with a fee of 48$) by Michigan BON, an application no. is issued and mailed after 2 weeks of receipt of application. NO SSN#, finger printing or min. years of exp (as required by Vermont) required. The applicant can then check the status of their application on the BON web-site.

What do you mean when you say "certified by CGFNS"? Is it the 3-part program which includes the credentials review, CGFNS exam and english exam? In case you were made eligible to sit for the NCLEX by the Michigan BON and passed it, does Michigan BON give you a hard license/card that you can endorse to other state later on?

Yes, I heard that too about Patty being off sick.

Still, it would seem a fairly basic method of improving the nurse shortage if they hired sufficient people to cover their workload...

What do you mean, take another suggestion? I have already completed all the paperwork for Vermont, and got the money order for $150US and sent off the application... it's just a matter of waiting and hoping my new job doesn't disappear, I guess!

Can you apply for initial licensure by examination in 2 states and then go with whichever comes through first?

You can apply to as many states as you want if you have the $$ to spend :)

i used my related learning experience to fill up the experience being required in the form of vermont.. this was suggested by the staff also of vermont.... so in short.. technically, there is no required experience also in vermont...

would it be faster if i myself deliver my application in sacramento? i mean all the requirements needed? even the requirements needed to be mailed by the school??

If the instructions say that a certain document must be mailed directly by the school, then it has to be that way. But for other matters, like your application form and payment for instance, you could bring it to their office provided they entertain walk-in applicants.

hi. i applied for registration in california. took 4 mos to receive my eligibility. att only takes a minute if u register online. some of my friends who also applied for cali licensure got their eligibility in 2 1/2 mos. i have extra fingerprint cards, btw.

vermont used to be the fastest to process applications, but i heard its now new mexico. u might wanna try checking their website. a lot of information is available online. if u r rili interested, u might wanna check them out --- particularly the FAQs (frequently asked questions).

also, u can apply in cali even without SSN (since ure not a US citizen). i think this applies to other states as well.
