Farmingdale State College

Published

Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?

:yeah: i got the call yesterday, and i am officially accepted to farmingdale for the rn program!

congrats !!!! i just got my acceptance letter yesterday :D :d :D i start in the fall. yayayayay :yeah:

Congratulations!! So happy for you VF11.

I have a question please....the RN program starts in the fall by what I am reading here? So all the pre-reqs need to be done by January? Is that correct? I am taking Physc 101 now and have an A and will be taking A & P 101 in the summer followed by ENG 101 and A & P 102 in the Fall so I will be done by January. So if I take the PAX exam by then I will be able to apply for Fall of 2012...does this sound about right? Thanks so much.

You need to apply to the program first by the end of December. Then they tell you if you should take the PAX RN.

Oh so not everyone has to take it? Is it based on grades? Do you have to have all pre-reqs completed by December?

Thanks for your response by the way...i appreciate it!

Admission to the program is based on your scores on the PAX. Everyone has to take it. The Farmingdale website has a lot of information about what they require, and they give information seminars every Wednesday, I believe. If you attend one of those, they answer all of your questions.

ler, you don't have to have all pre-req's done before even starting the program.. i had A&P I and II, micro, english and psych done.. i took chem, communications (they have a "oral communication for the healthcare provider course" that can only be taken there b/c it doesn't exist anywhere else), and intro to sociology - all while in the RN program.. there's plenty of time to take it all.. i think you just have to have 3 or 4 out of all of those above listed before being accepted.. hope that helps!

Earb, did you also have to take English Lit? They're not accepting my CLEP credit for that class.

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if anyone else has been keeping up with this thread lol. But I just recieved a phone call about 2 hours ago letting me know that I was accepted into the nursing program! I'm super excited but a little nervous because I was already accepted into Molloy's program :/ Anyone else get a late acception for Fall 2011?

Hi I'm not sure if anyone puts posts on here but I have been ready all of these posts and Ive always wanted to become a RN. And I went to Suffolk and I didn't like it so much. I really would like to get into farmingdale. Everytime I look at the website or classes I get so excited. Sorry for the long post I was just wondering if any requirements changed or any information would help really!

...also I know the AS nursing and the LPN. Program are canceled this year. Does anyone know if BS nursing program you the to be a RN already to get in or any previous degrees? That would be a huge help if anyone can tell me that!!

Thank you

They have 2 different BSN programs.. One for "traditional" students (who are going into the program with no nursing background), and another is their RN-to-BSN if you are already a nurse..Hope that helps!(I went there for my LPN and my RN so I'm very familiar with their programs!)
