Fall 2011 UT Houston Health Sciences hopefuls

Published

I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?

Hey guys, I got my transcript evaluation in the mail yesterday and I'm super frustrated! They still don't have my TSI and calculated my GPA weird. Does anyone know what I should do to satisfy the TSI for UT. I know I've got it because I would not have been able to register for statistics this semester if I wasn't "college level" math. I'm freaking out about this whole thing though, how do I prove my compass scores??

Also does anyone know if they calculate classes that you have retaken differently than just replacing the old score with the new. I got a B in 3 different classes and retook them immediately after receiving the semester grade. So, on my transcript both grades are present, but the B has an asterisk next to it since its been replaced with an A. It isn't affecting my science or prereq gpa but my overall undergrad gpa is listed as 3.8. I know a 3.8 isn't awful but it's really annoying because I worked ridiculously hard for all A's.

Seriously, you're still having TSI issues?? I'm really sorry, it must be super frustrating! :redbeathe It's gotta be some kind of clerical error. I don't see what else you would have to "do" or prove...like you said, you have to have TSI taken care of to do any of the stuff you've already done.

As far as GPAs, I believe that every attempt/grade counts in your overall GPA, but only the retake counts for science/prereq GPA...which means your GPAs make sense. I'm pretty sure that's what they told me---I will check my applications binder when I get off work tonight to confirm.

Whoa....my GPAs on UTlink have changed too! Originally it displayed my accurate GPAs: prereq 3.684, science 4.000, overall 3.269.

Now it says prereq 3.184, science 3.666, undergrad 3.0660! What is going on?!

THANK YOU. MINE HAVE CHANGED TOO ! BUT NOT IN A GOOD WAY NOW I AM NOT QUALIFIED TO GET IN :crying2: I had a 3.09 go to a 2.9 prereq and a 3.4 science go to a 2.8...I am freaking out !

ktay, chaos, carrie that is very alarming that your gpa would get dropped like that. I hope it is easy enough to take care of on monday.

Mine hasn't change.. yet :uhoh3:

I'm curious, which gpa did your transcript evaluations show? the higher or lower one?

I wonder if the GPA would change after the transcript evaluation. Maybe the initial GPA was what your school reported, but UT calculates it differently- like chaos said, including instead of replacing a grade in a course that was repeated. Usually schools post their policy for calculating undergrad or transfer GPA, but I just looked through all the UT catalogs I could find online and didn't find any information.

At this point my UTlink GPA matches my transcript evaluation GPA. I expect my GPA might change a little after they fix the error on my evaluation, though.

I agree with nurseguy86. ktay, chaos, and carrien, the fact that your gpa's practically dropped overnight is scary. I just checked UTLINK to make sure my gpa's were still the same, and they are, so I wonder what happened with you guys? Really confused...

Then again, I don't think UTLINK is really the best software program. Just check out the homepage. Why do some of the dates say 12/30/1899???

That's my first thought, that transcript evaluation might result in something different. My school doesn't calculate science GPA etc, so they wouldn't have reported anything like that...plus, what was originally posted matched what I manually calculated based on grades, and there are some pretty dramatic differences. Even when I factor in repeated courses including all grades, it doesn't seem right. The only other explanation that occurred to me was withdrawals/dropped courses...do those get factored in somehow, like are we penalized for that? I had to drop a ton of courses back in 2007 due to personal stuff (which I'd hoped to address in my interview...)

Still waiting on getting my evaluaton---it got sent to my permanent address instead of where I live now, so they're forwarding it. In the meantime, think I'm going to focus on other schools for a couple days and try not to freak out...man, I was so calm before this ;)

So it turns out my UTlink and transcript GPA aren't the same. My UTlink hasn't changed recently so I just wasn't paying attention when I looked at my evaluation. The differences are just a few hundredths of a point less, so it's not enough for me to really worry about.

I'm glad the evaluations were mailed out early; it turns out I already had credit for the Philosophy requirement so I was able to drop the Philosophy class I started this semester. Now I have more time to focus on Organic Chemistry! :w00t:

Ugh god...I shouldn't have to deal with this stress right now.

Ugh god...I shouldn't have to deal with this stress right now.

TOTALLY, and ditto: ugghhhhh. Hopefully we'll get it sorted out tomorrow. *internet hug*

Does anyone know where I can park if I plan on visiting the campus tomorrow. The street and intersection. Or better yet, the address. I am going to try and get this figured out.

If I were visiting, I'd just call the office in the morning and ask them; I think they'd know best. Med center parking has always been confusing for me.
