Fall 2011 UT Houston Health Sciences hopefuls

Published

I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?

They didn't let me see my grades that day since the printer wasn't working at the testing site, but I was able to view my grades since they were sent to me through e-mail. There should be a sheet that will show you what exactly you made in each section through that.

Darkmeltdown I am able to see all the grades for each section of the exam when I log in to my evolve account but the only one not showing is the ct section.

Ialanis, mine doesn't show either when I pull up the PDF of my score report. Try just clicking the little plus sign next to the Admission Assessment Report link on the Evolve Reach website, it'll expand into a list of your scores, and my critical thinking does show up there.

P.S. I agree with nurseguy, those are great grades, definitely don't give up :)

Wow! Seems like a lot has happened since I last visited this board.

cait: Who did you talk to in admissions? I wonder where they got their information from...? Weird.

Anyway, you all have such great scores and I wish you guys nothing but the best! :)

Since pretty much everyone has posted their stats, I'll go ahead and post mine:

Prereq GPA: 3.71

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall: 3.3 (BS Biology 2010...wish this were higher :/)

HESI: overall: 93.10% critical thinking: 800

I don't know where this puts me in terms of other applicants, but I hope it's okay :/.

Prenursing9892: I see you have a BS already, did you apply to the accelerated program, or traditional/pacesetters?

I applied to the traditonal/pacesetters program because I missed the deadline for the accelerated program :/. I should've taken the HESI earlier than I did - that's what held me back.

Chaos0058 I did it and it showed up, thank you so much.

Just checked my (snail) mail and had a thickish envelope from UTHSC.... and it was my transcript evaluation! I was so disappointed! But I haven't been on this board in a few days so now I'm caught up. When I first read they weren't doing interviews that really scared me too! But I guess they're so busy interviewing the Accelerated people, they're just postponing ours. No worries, right? :D

I got 98% or 97% on all sections except for the A&P in which I got a 68%... 2 points below the minimum both times. I'm so upset!

you and i have very similar hesi scores! i remember i got a 93-something and an 800 on the critical thinking. i was so worried about my critical thinking score because everybody else seemed to get above 800

I spoke to two people from admissions yesterday and both told me no interviews. So this is amazing news. I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY. I feel as if I am pretty average when it comes to the numbers that define me but I am above average in character. I do not think it is fair to not give interviews. Especially if you had a rough patch in college and had to work your way back up. Essentially it would weed those people out and would make all of their hard work completely void.

As best I can tell from reading the posts from previous semesters (and this is entirely my speculation; I haven't spoken to anyone in Admissions), everyone who meets the minimum requirements will get an interview. The minimums are 2.75 GPA nursing prereqs, 3.0 GPA science, 75% on the HESI, and 750 on Critical Thinking.

And from what I can tell, the essay and the interview appear to be the deciding factors, even though the 1-on-1 interview seems to last only 15-30 minutes.

For anyone else who's read through the previous semesters, is that more or less how you understand it?
