I applied too. I keep trying to be realistic about my chances but my hopes are still high. If I could just get in I would be thrilled and work my tail off to finish! Of course I need the opportunity first. I'm applying to CyFair Lone Star also. But would take UT in a heartbeat for several reasons. Glad someone has finally started a thread for us (fall 2011 hopefuls)

Hello twoy, and r4ts! Twoy, I just took the hesi, and it wasn't all that hard, with your science pre req's complete and a basic understanding of math, you should have no problem. I also applied for fall 2011 admission. I'm wondering when interview letters are sent, does anybody know?

I've heard that they are usually sent out around February, I think (dont take my word for it). I'm taking my HESI test next. I've only taken A & P 1 though, and I plan on taking the second part next semester. Since you've already took it, is this going to be a problem you think? Does it cover alot mof A & P 2 stuff?

There are only like 25 A&P questions on the HESI. I had taken it before I had covered the urinary system and reproductive system and I missed 3 questions. 3 questions doesn't seem bad, but since there were only 25, I ended with an 88 which was my lowest score. I'm sure you'll be fine though.
Should not be a big deal. If you have reviewed one of the study guides and understand the basics of each organ system, you will be fine.
I am taking my HESI exam this Sunday!! (Dec.19) I have a review but on my practice tests I keep missing some questions here and there and it is worrying me. I need to not just meet the minimum for UT; I need to score HIGH!! I don't have the highest GPA and I have a horrible college history (starting and stopping) so I need something to impress them.
Any tips?
Im scheduled to take the hesi on the 29th so wish me luck! Im going to need it! I'm also applying to UTMB in Galveston and Lamar University in Beaumont, Tx.
My Overall GPA is now a 3.7 and my Science GPA is a 4.0
I'm really looking forward to taking the hesi which is the last step in my Admisssion process and i wish you all the best of luck! Happy Holidays!
r4ts, How did you do on the Hesi? As far as impressing UT, I would just re-enthuse to them the reason you are pursuing a nursing as a career during the interview. From what I have read about it, the interview seems to be weighted pretty heavily during the selection process.
So I took the HESI and I hate tests and I hated this one too-I hated taking it (seemingly) forever.
Overall my scores were:
Math: 98%
Reading comprehension: 97.83%
Grammar: 94%
Vocabulary: 90%
Anatomy: 80%-this made me absolutely bummed. THIS should be a lot higher-especially for the degree and school I want! Felt like that section tossed me out of the competition.
Critical Thinking: 890
Overall score: 91.97%
Also applying to Lone Star Cyfair and my score chart is a 11.56- found out the cut off is 11.7.

That is a great HESI score. Good luck.
OP- have you taken the TEAS V? UTMB uses that exam instead of the HESI. Have you considered Texas Woman's Houston? They also do the TEASV.

Just took the HESI today. Only studied for an hour on the math concepts, reading comprehension, and grammar before I got bored. Did just fine with the exam, finished everything in 3 hours or so.
88.14% composite score
98 - Math
86.96 - Reading Comprehension
92 - Grammar
88 - Vocabulary
80 - A&P
96 - Biology
76 - Chemistry
790 - Critical Thinking
Will probably end up sending these scores to A&M also to bump up my chances of getting in any nursing program in the TMC.
