I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?
Hey guys,
I have a question about the social science prerequisite. Would Sociology of the Family fulfill the social science prereq? On the UTHHSC's SON website, it says that Introduction to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology can fulfill the prerequisite; however, I do not want to take either of these classes or spend money unnecessarily if I do not have to. I have been trying (endlessly) to ask this question to a counselor at the school, but I've been very unsuccessful at it! Is there anyone out there with any knowledge on the situation? I would really like to get by with SOTF and not have to take Intro. to Soc. or Cultural Anthropology.
TIA.
Hi All,
Took my HESI with a raging case of sinusitis and bronchitis - so if my hacking and sniffling disturbed any of you while taking the HESI 12/31/2010 at the Harwin location - I deeply apologize. Being sick for the month of December, I did not get to study as I would have liked and I was so freaked out, I slept 2.5 hours.
Overall I got a 90.9 - I got 92s-96s in all areas except conclusions (75- *****???), A&P, Math and Chem (88) with a 830 or 860 on critical - I can't remember and it isn't listed on my Evolve site. I wish they would show you which ones you got wrong - how did I get a 100 in meaning and a 92-96 in everything else - but 75 in conclusions? Maybe I am a freak?
I have a 4.0 science, 3.7 in everything and 3.7 in accumulative. I have no medical experince, beside being a primary caregiver to 3 people who were all terminally ill. Fortunately, this was not all at the same time.
With the 75 and 88s I think I am out of the game. I am also applying to Lone Star - but it is just as hard...so many trying to get in everywhere. I think a chicken sacrifice to the nursing school admittance Gods maybe in order. Does anybody know where I can get my hands on a live chicken?
Is anyone else having problems getting assistance from UT in answering questions or getting UTLink account? Customer service does not seem to be a high priority.
How long did it take for you to get your UTLink info?
Does anybody know where to find the email address you send your resume' (had a box on application under the 3 employers area to send further info) to? Whenever I email - they just send me a link to the BSN info sight. Realize there maybe a short between the keyboard and chair - but I have read the Nursing website - 5 TIMES- and had my poor husband read all the pages twice and read the catalog twice - can not find this address.....
Sorry for the long post - good luck to all - best wishes!

Yeah - seems like they would prefer to set themselves on fire than actually talk with a potential student.
Have you tried email. I have gotten some "interaction" via that mode of communication - which is always a link right back to the BSN info page - one wonders if they read the emails? Or if you are brave, bored and bewitching, you could just go up to the student services center and camp out in the lobby. Maybe if you look a little disheveled and hold your paperwork in front of you like Oliver Twist asking for "more" with puppy dog eyes - the admittance Gods might take mercy on you....it's what I would do in your spot.
Hey everyone,I am also applying to UTHSC-H for Fall 2011. But I'm worried! I took my Hesi A2 in early-mid December and passed everything! However, it's still showing "not received" in my UT Link. Is this happening to yall too? & the deadline is approaching....
I went to the office of student affairs and they told me that they have been having trouble for 2 weeks downloading HESI scores and that they were trying to do it that day (monday) and to check back later this week. But i've been checking and mine hasn't loaded yet either. I took mine Dec 14.
Does anyone have the TESI/Exempt group saying not received? I know i'm exempt but were we supposed to send something in?

Thanks so much for that update! I took it Dec 16th, so good to know that they've been having trouble with everyone's, regardless of taking it awhile ago. Oh, and last week my UTlink said TSI not received too (even though I already have a degree), so I just emailed admissions about it and it got changed pretty quickly. They probably already have whatever info they need (just by the fact that you've taken prereqs somewhere, so you're TSI exempt) they just haven't entered it yet.
@oldcrone---LOL! Seriously, that might be the best approach. Heram1 only got the info by going there, after all. I might consider that if I wasn't living in Austin

Hi everyone, thanks for starting this thread! I'm applying to UTHSC, TWU, UTMB, UT Arlington and A&M. Maybe the new Texas State program in Round Rock, but they're brand new and accreditation is pending, so we'll see...plus I'm having major issues with their undergrad admissions office losing each thing I send them.
Took both HESI and TEAS a couple weeks ago....I felt like TEAS was a little harder, but I was also much sleepier when I took it so maybe that's just in my head :) There is the major difference of no calculator on that one.
My HESI breakdown:
97.40% composite score
98 - Math
97.83 - Reading Comprehension
98 - Grammar
96 - Vocabulary
96 - Chemistry
100 - Biology
96 - A&P
860 - Critical Thinking
Learning - Cognitive/Global
Personality -Creative/People
(I don't think they're using those two for admissions, but it's interesting...I'm glad it was on there!)
I feel really happy about my scores on both tests (96% on TEAS). Was really pessimistic about applications before, but after the confidence boost I now think I've got a decent chance of getting in somewhere good.
As far as GPAs for UTHSC (don't you love how each school calculates it differently?): 4.0 science, 3.6 or 3.7 prereq, 3.2 overall. Something like that---UTLink is inaccessible at the moment since it's Christmas Eve.
Good luck to you all, and let's keep each other posted on letters/interviews! Does anyone know much about the interview process? I heard there's some kind of writing sample involved, but don't know much else...
