I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?
I spoke to two people from admissions yesterday and both told me no interviews. So this is amazing news. I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY.
I'm confused...you want interviews, but are happy they told you NO interviews? Is one of those a typo? Not nitpicking or anything, lol...just want to clarify what they told you? :) And critical thinking is out of 1000, I think. I haven't heard of anyone getting 900 or more, though.
Good call, rocketsurgery, I get the same impression of who gets interviews. As far as the writing sample and interview, they both seem pretty informal/casual...not sure just how big a piece of the pie they are, compared to grades and scores. I wish we knew their scoring system, but we'll find out soon enough I guess :)
-asian-: yeah, I was worried about that too. I was sick the day I took the exam. I started to get a huge headache after some time and just wanted to hurry up and get out of there, so I kinda of rushed through the first few questions of the CT section. When I remembered that we needed to score a minimum of 750 on it, I was wised up but still wasn't very happy with the 800 I got; The only thing I was happy about was scoring above 750 given the fact that I rushed through the first 10 or so questions. I think we're okay though. I've read about someone getting into UTHSC last fall with the exact same HESI scores (CT & overall).
I feel so dicouraged right now. I asked one of the admissions reps to takes off my UT link that I had a BSN and an Associates because it was a mistake. They didn't even have the documents on file. I thought it would increase my cumulative gpa. Well I look at my UT link today and my prereq gpa went from a 3.2 to a 2.9 and my science gpa from a 3.4 to a 2.8. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED! This is wrong. I swear they need more competent people working in the admissions department because I am effed. And to top it all off my cumulative gpa IS THE SAME.:crying2:
:crying2:

Awww Carrie, don't be discouraged. It will all work out. I imagine they're incredibly busy with tons of applications and transcript evaluations, so mistakes are bound to happen.
I found a mistake on my evaluation; they didn't include a class that I took in the Fall mini-term. I emailed the SON and the registrar, and I'm sure it will get fixed eventually. I'll give it about a week, and then if UTlink isn't updated, I'll try calling them.
What do you think happened? Did your schools not send the right documents? Here are the group email adresses for the School of Nursing and Registrar's Office: [email protected], [email protected]
Try emailing both and explaining your situation. Attach any relevant documentation if you have it. Hopefully someone in one of those groups can get everything straightened out for you.
It happened because they took that one piece of information off. I plan on going to the office of admissions at 8am on Monday. In the meantime I hvae homework and a lot of other things I need to do. This will just be simmering in the back of my mind for a few days. Hopefully when the time comes my brain won't be fully cooked. LOL.
I know everyone is as anxious as I am. I don't even have an interview letter yet and I'm playing it out in my head! My friend just finished her BSN and she said her best advice during this period of limbo is to make a "pre-nursing school" bucket list. She said think of anything you will want to do in the upcoming year and do it now so you won't feel resentful or miss out on it later.
I told her I've been doing Spring cleaning type of cleaning at my house when I feel anxious about getting in and she joked -"good, because you won't have time to clean at all when you get in!"
I want so badly to be accepted but I'm also anxious about the next hurdle of keeping up with the program's demands! Going to give it my all-if I get in.:heartbeat

Right there with you, reachin4thestars. I don't know about UT, but I feel reasonably confident at this point that I'll get accepted somewhere (still somewhat anxious, of course!). But what I'm really starting to worry about is how to actually make it through school. I feel ready for some aspects, but just wondering how to handle time management, get everything done, and hopefully occasionally still have a life.
Hey guys, I got my transcript evaluation in the mail yesterday and I'm super frustrated! They still don't have my TSI and calculated my GPA weird. Does anyone know what I should do to satisfy the TSI for UT. I know I've got it because I would not have been able to register for statistics this semester if I wasn't "college level" math. I'm freaking out about this whole thing though, how do I prove my compass scores??
Also does anyone know if they calculate classes that you have retaken differently than just replacing the old score with the new. I got a B in 3 different classes and retook them immediately after receiving the semester grade. So, on my transcript both grades are present, but the B has an asterisk next to it since its been replaced with an A. It isn't affecting my science or prereq gpa but my overall undergrad gpa is listed as 3.8. I know a 3.8 isn't awful but it's really annoying because I worked ridiculously hard for all A's.

From what you just said. You are my hero. Thank you for allowing me to sleep a little bit sounder. I am above all of those. 830 on critical thinking. What was the highest you could score?
