Fall 2011 UT Houston Health Sciences hopefuls

Published

I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?

i applied to a few other schools too, and yeahhh that money does all add up :((((( i hope i get into houston tho. where else did u apply??

I applied to TWU (Houston campus), UTMB, UT Arlington and Texas A&M (which feels wierd since I'm a UT Austin alum, haha ;)). Casting a wide net---hope something comes back.

I'm starting to wonder though...it's not likely, but if you get multiple acceptances how do you choose? So I guess my question to everyone, especially those that only applied to UTHSC: what is it about this school that makes it your #1?

Okay I am really starting to get confused here. Not that I doubt anyone's info, but its starting to be really conflicting. I just emailed the registrar once again, to check my TSI (ONCE AGAIN) and included a question about interviews being held. Hopefully they email me back quickly and let me know. For me personally, doing away with interviews is a big help, I think. I have a great GPA, but NO experience at all. It stinks for those of you who have really useful experience though. I don't know but I guess we will find out soon! For the sake of my sanity I pray that it is REALLY soon!

Hey everyone, I'm applying to UT Houston for the Fall 2011 class and I called one of the admissions counselors to check up on my application. I was informed that they will not be performing interviews for the Fall 2011 class. Apparently, they are changing the application process up a bit which I'm not sure is a good thing. Let me know if anyone else has heard this too.

Hi Hannah! Several people here heard that...but several other people called and were told that there will be interviews. Not sure we officially reached a consensus on that, but personally I'm checking the mailbox every 5 seconds until I get something from somewhere. :D

I picked it because of the reputation (top 10 in the country) and the location--> both the fact that it is in Houston and I need to stay put for my little girl and the fact that it is in the medical center which seems like an ideal place to start if you want to go into the medical field.

@chaos0058: i applied to a couple of the same schools u did too. i'm sure we'll receive good news somewhere!

i chose houston for its reputation and location too. i dont understand how they're going to choose the students according to gpa and hesi scores only...

So even though I received emails a while back from admissions stating interview letters will be sent out; with other people being informed that they won't be interviewing and with such a delay in anyone receiving letters I'm really starting to believe they really aren't doing interviews for the fall.

Seems like it could be possible anytime you call any business/school if you talk to two different people you can get two conflicting information.

I just wish that if they knew they weren't going to hold interviews they would have asked the applicants to include a resume or an application essay or something.

If I am going to be judged strictly by numbers I wish they would give a more specific/narrow range of GPA and HESI scores so that I can at least know where to improve. :o:heartbeat

when i called a few minutes ago, i was told "the admissions committee is still in the process of reviewing the applications, and if they need an applicant for an interview, they will be contacted by email or mail." i wonder if an interview is like a tie-breaker or something...

I just found this thread and am so happy! I have not been able to get a hold of the offices every time I have called, but after reading through this, I am assuming there are no interviews? Is that correct? Also does anyone know when they mail out the decision letters or how many people get in? I am so nervous and just want to know one way or the other!

Thanks!

Amongst the confusion regarding interviews, recent posts suggest that there are indeed interviews being held this semester. I may not be right, but as for decisions letters, I recall reading somewhere that they should be mailed by the end of April. Letters for interviews should be in the process of getting mailed out this week and last week. It seems no one has obtained one yet - I keep frantically checking the mailbox twice a day too as many of you are. wooooot anxiety! :D

just hang in there and good luck.

here's an e-mail response that i got from the son about interviews and acceptances/denials:

the admissions committee is still reviewing applications. applicants will be notified by mail if they are selected for an interview. acceptance and denial letters are mail by april 15th.

now i'm really, really confused...

I do believe they said they will select applicants whom they feel need to be interviewed for further classification. I'm guessing those would be when it got down to applicants with similar statuses, or like low science grades but high hesi science scores, etc.

they need to announce something for sure already. im curious and keep waiting. curiosity kills the cat...
