Fall 2011 UT Houston Health Sciences hopefuls

Published

I am a ut houston hopeful applying for the pacesetter and traditional programs for fall 2011! I will be done with my pre-req's: engl 1302 and hist 1302 this spring 2011. I plan on taking the hesi the beginning of December since the deadline for ut-houston has been changed to Jan 15. 2011. I wish everybody good luck as were getting down to the wire!!1 Anyone else out there?

im already freaking out everyday. too anxious waiting for the letter :hdvwl:

i've cut and pasted these from the emails i received directly from ut bsn admissions:

"we will be sending out interview letters around the second week in february."

"the admissions committee are reviewing applications. selected applicants will be notified by mail for interviews. acceptance and denial letters are mailed the 1st of april."

oh wowwwwwww...

My transcript evaluation was mailed on January 26th. I need four more classes that are in progress now. I have a 3.52% GPA per their website and my HESI score was about 89% with a 800 on critical thinking. Let me know when you start getting interview letters!! Good luck everyone!

anybody apply for the MSN program (ACNP) starting this fall(already have a BSN)? anybody?

Specializes in CVICU.

Where are the interview letters???? I'm biting my nails and checking the mail 2x a day! ugh.....thought they would be here.

You and me both, reachin4thestars. I've been trying to focus less on ut admissions and more on the current semester, and it helps a little bit.. The free time is what kills me.

Is anyone out there volunteering at a hospital? I am trying to gather more information so I can get my feet wet before August. I checked out memorial, but it seems that they want a 1yr commitment. I'm not opposed to it, but with a toddler and hopefully nursing school to keep up with in the fall I don't want to over commit myself. Any recommendations?

Omg I've never been so anxious in my life like I am now with all this waiting... :uhoh3:

Nurseguy if you find any volunteering info please share.. I am in the same situation ad you.

you could check the sites of local hospitals for volunteer opportunities- I just finished up with mem herm er. I enjoyed the patient contact the most. It is not necessary though. Once accepted- we'll get all the exposure needed in clinical.

Same situation here, constantly checking the mail whether it's raining, snowing, 3 am when I get home, whatever!;) I'm done with classes, but I distracted myself last week working on personal statement for UTMB app. Now that's done, so---back to obsessing, I guess. :uhoh3:

I started volunteering last week, at Seton hospital in Austin. Tomorrow's my second day, but it's been really great so far---I'm just doing filing/admin stuff, but am definitely making some connections and getting more comfortable being in a hospital environment. They have me in the surgery/anesthesia area.

Haha, chaos your making me nervous. I put everything on UT-H, didn't apply anywhere else..

Jamie your right, we will get everything we need from clinical. But, with anything and everything that is going on at the hospital, I want to boost my comfort level beforehand. It will be one less thing to get used to during the most challenging 15 months of life.

Did anyone get interview letters yet?

chaos0058: lucky! I would love to shadow a CRNA! If anyone is interested in the program - we have to maintain out badass GPA while in SON to qualify.

I haven't heard from UTH yet- a girlfriend is on campus- she mentioned that they've started interviewing, but she could be observing the rn-bsn group
