When does your semester officially start?? Are you done with orientation??
My semester officially starts August 25th. I cannot wait!!! We already had our nursing orientation in June and have started some of my summer readings.
I also took my nursing math pretest and met my math requirement for the nursing program.
I may go to the general student orientation at the school because it is a new, confusingly laid out college and I dont want to have a high school flash back!!
Starting Aug. 29 too! I have to take the HESI exam on the 14th (admission NOT contingent on passing) and my orientation is on the 19th. I already bought my stethoscope and am now looking for shoes and uniforms. I also bought lots and lots of notecards! :chuckle
We don't start until August 29th at Michigan State. Our orientation is August 26th! Which really doesn't make much sense- so I guess none of us will get a start on any reading.. it's not like anyone is going to miss Welcome Weekend at MSU! Probably the orientation is so late because they have people in the program from all over the U.S., probably would hate to have everyone to fly in for a one-day orientation..
My first day of class is August 17, which is also our orientation. I've purchased my uniform which consists of white pants, white top, white lab coat and white shoes. We were given a few styles to choose from, so I had a ball trying them on and deciding. It made it seem so much more real! I also purchased my BP cuff and a Prestige stethescope to start practicing with. I'm not crazy about the steth and I'm hoping to get a new one for my birthday next month. Our school bookstore doesn't have our book list yet, so I've been purchasing reference books mentioned on here. Mosby's Medical, Allied Health and Nursing Dictionary, Saunder's NCLEX review book and RNotes. I try to buy one each payperiod. There are still a few I want and will try to get them before my August start date. I also purchased Math & Meds for nurses and have been practicing my dosage calcualtions. I'm so ready to begin! This is the first summer I haven't taken classes and I'm itching to get started! Good luck to everyone.
i am starting my senior year :) , but we have a clinical orient. on week of 9/3/05. we jump right on in with classes on the 28th of august. we received our book list in the mail 2 weeks ago and we can buy our class outlines on the 15th of august.
My first day of class is August 22...we had orientation in May. I have purchased almost all of my books and have been working on "Dosage Calculations" by Pickar, practing my med math. I still need to get my uniform and supplies. The syllabus comes out in August.
I have my CPR class at my college in a few weeks and my complete physical on 7/21.
Hi all! I finally got stuff today! Class starts August 22. I ordered my uniform, got my shoes, pen light, etc. I also got my stethoscope (Prestige Sprage) but am considering returning it for a littman. Not sure yet.
Hi. Our two day orientation is in a couple of weeks; we order uniforms, buy a kit (still not sure what's in it, but they only accept cash or credit for it :)) and I'm not sure what else. I'm trying to get my books, but they're pretty expensive, so I keep putting that off . My friend and I already tried on and ordered a set of scrubs for clinicals. I still need to get shoes so I can get them broken in. Classes start the middle of of August and I'm already counting down the days. Yippee. I still can't believe I'm actually going to nursing school!!!
I start Aug. 22nd. We had our orientation in May. While there we ordered our uniforms and a bunch of other stuff, got our book of rules and regulations. I have borrowed a Math for Meds book from a friend who is in her third semester, and have begun going through it. I hope to go cover to cover, math is not my strongest area, although I'm starting Ch5 and have not had any trouble at all understanding what I'm looking at. She also gave me abbreviations and thought I'd make flash cards and begin practicing now.
