  2. Hi Jen....I got 81 questions but felt like I knew NOTHING! Not at all what we prepared for.....hang in there!
  3. My school used the pediatric virtual excursion and we really liked it. Except for the fact that everything has to be done in real time, I thought it was a pretty cool program.
  4. enfp here too! :yelclap::yelclap::yelclap:
  5. No, I'm at GMU now, but originally I was planning to go to NVCC so I took the pre-reqs. Happily, they all transferred with me.
  6. ENG 111 - College Composition I NAS 161 - Health Science I NAS 162 - Health Science II SDV 101 - Orientation to Health Care The NAS courses integrate A&P, Micro, and Chemistry. This link will show you the full curriculum: http://www.nvcc.edu/curcatalog/programs/nur.htm
  7. That pretty much sums it up! __________________ Jen, from "Northern" VA :roll
  8. I'm at GMU now and I did my pre-reqs at NVCC. What would you like to know?
  9. I worked for a periodontist for several years and we did scaling and root planing daily. We usually gave Novocaine for the procedure and ibuprofen afterward. We told our patients that they might have some discomfort afterward and to just take the ibuprofen and rinse with warm salt water, and we never had anyone come back and tell us they had pain. The other periodontist in the practice told his patients that there would be pain and swelling afterward and always prescribed pain killers. Guess what? His patients almost always experienced pain following the procedure. I think a lot of times people will experience what they're told to expect. You shouldn't expect anything more than some soreness afterward......warm salt water works wonders!!
  10. Not to sound unsympathetic but, as I see it, there are 6 pages of posts responding to your questions...all good advice. Maybe part of the communications problem is that you only want to hear what you want to hear. There is no magical way to fix this, and I would stop asking the instructor if you're going to fail. She told you no and if you continue to badger her she may just start wondering if you know something she doesn't (but should!) I hope things work out for you!
  11. RN_Jen replied to 3KittiesRN's topic in LPN to RN
    just out of curiosity, where does that statistic come from??
  12. I'm doing my OB rotation now and I was telling my mother about a circumcision I witnessed. She proceded to tell me that my father wasn't circumcised until he was in his 30's! LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA
  13. Sounds like my schedule, except that I'm up at 4:30 for my 6:00 clinicals.
