Fall 2018 Nursing Sierra College

Published

Hello all!

Today was the first day to submit a nursing application for Sierra!

I just wanted to start a thread so we can keep each other updated. This is my first time applying for Sierra. I applied for Sac State and Stanislaus spring 2018 and didnt get in. I had a low Teas score of 77, so i retook it and got an 85. I might re take again....not sure.

Who else is applying? how many times have you applied for sierra?

Good Luck everyone!!!!

Is it just me or Sierra changed their criteria for admission ! I checked there website today and doesn't seem like they use the 80 point thing anymore instead a point distribution similar to arc??? Few years ago I didn't qualify for Sierra but now I might! And I still have till April to submit the application

And there is no online application ? Just hard copy

Yeah they changed it this year. They used to use the chancellors score, but they didn't away with it. And yeah only hard copy for Sierra.

Dang I still don't qualify I wonder why their point system is so demanding compared to arc !!! Oh well í ½í¸”

Hey Everyone! I am a current Sierra College ADN student with Todd. Good luck to everyone applying, it really is an AMAZING program. If you have any questions, let me know!

Hello everyone! I was just wondering if any of you know if Sierra accepts AP credits/exam scores for prerequisites (namely AP Psychology for Introduction to Psychology), and if so, how that works with GPA calculation. Thanks in advance!

Hey Cimarron,

They do not accept AP courses for prerequisite classes. Colleges may give you credit, but the nursing program requires specific COLLEGE courses that have been approved as equivalent, they don't look into high school classes for equivalency.

For GPA calculations only Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Math and English are taken into consideration for the points assignment on your application.

Hello!

Can anyone recommend study material for the TEAS? I am not planning to apply til 2019 but trying to get a head start!

I also wanted to thank you guys for putting your application information/experience out there, I found it very helpful. :)

Hey vvnn!!

I used mometrix ATI Teas study book, I also used Accepted inc. ATI Teas 6 study book. On top of that used the Kaplan question bank for the teas. which is just a bunch of practice questions. I had to take the teas 2x, thats why I used so many different materials.

Hope this helps! good luck!

I used the mometrix study guide, the McGraw Hill practice test book, and I bought the practice tests from ATI. They are pricey ($50 or so each), but you get to take them twice each and they are the closest practice tests you will find to the actual test.

One of the best studying resources I found was Brandon Craft's TEAS math prep on YouTube! He goes section by section for what you need to know, and if you're like me and haven't taken math in a decade, it is like a miracle!

Good luck to you!

Check your emails, I got my acceptance letter today!

What's the nursing program schedule like? I was wondering if I'd be able to work some?
