Hello all!
Today was the first day to submit a nursing application for Sierra!
I just wanted to start a thread so we can keep each other updated. This is my first time applying for Sierra. I applied for Sac State and Stanislaus spring 2018 and didnt get in. I had a low Teas score of 77, so i retook it and got an 85. I might re take again....not sure.
Who else is applying? how many times have you applied for sierra?
Good Luck everyone!!!!
Oh the support system makes perfect sense!! Thank you! And wow, only 15 spots?? I wonder how many people apply for the Merger program.. Well anything can happen! Just have to keep my hopes up. I honestly didn't think that Sierra was going to accept me, I just decided why not apply since I have enough points. Then they randomly emailed me my acceptance my first time applying, so grateful!! I'm hoping I get lucky with the Merger as well!!
Hey @Todd94, I know they said they will email us supposed "homework" before orientation, but what exactly should I be doing right now to be prepared? I'm feeling anxious because of all the prepaperwork that will need to be done. But I also have concerns about financial aid, because I usually qualify for the BOG fee waiver through the Los Rios colleges. Right now on my Sierra it's saying to apply for the FAFSA which I obviously already did. It also says for my steps to take the assessment tests before I can register for classes, which obviously I have already taken at Sac city since I did all of my nursing prerequisites there. When do we register for the nursing classes? After orientation and paperwork? Any help would be great!
Hello, my name is Isela and I also was accepted into the RN program for the Fall 2018 class and am super excited. I was curious if any one was familiar with the books that use in their program. Also, is anyone commuting from the Bay Area. I live in Suisun, close to Vacaville. I am hoping to be able to to set up alternating car pools, at least to theory days.
Hey there,
There isn't "homework" this summer, you will get your syllabus a few weeks before and will have reading assignments you can start before class which is your homework. Focus on getting all of the documents completed ASAP. Once that's done, if you want to start doing anything, brush up on basic physiology of each system and start learning basic medical terminology. Your BOG waiver will be available to you at Sierra once your FAFSA is completed and Sierra is listed at your school.
The book list your going to have to wait for, the books aren't always the same as the previous semester. Our books are different from the other class. As far as clinical goes, you will find out the locations at Orientation. I am not going to post it on the site because we are asked to remain discreet with social media and especially with linking facilities. The locations are great and don't require much commuting from the Rocklin area. You will be given the code to register after all of the required documentation is completed.
I highly recommend starting a Facebook page this summer, we did that after acceptances went out and actually had a few get togethers before class started to meet each other. LASTLY! Enjoy your summer! Rest, spend time with friends and family and have some fun! The semester starts full speed day one, so you will need it:)
Hi all! I created a Facebook group! It's called Sierra College Nursing Class of 2020. It's nothing special but I think it will be a good way to see who is in our cohort and to get to know one another! Here is the link: Log into Facebook | Facebook. Please feel free to post or change any details of the page as I am not the most Facebook savy person. Thank you guys!
