Sierra College Fall 2017
It is much more grade based now. The majority of the points come from your science GPA, and the TEAS score. And then everyone with the minimum points is entered into the lottery. I'm in the current class and with a 3.75 GPA and an 84% on my TEAS, I didn't hit the minimum points for the new selection process unless I retook the science I got an 88% in and got an A. They have a algorithm on the website you can enter your grades into to see what your score would be.

Fall 2018 Nursing Sierra College
Hey there, There isn't "homework" this summer, you will get your syllabus a few weeks before and will have reading assignments you can start before class which is your homework. Focus on getting all of the documents completed ASAP. Once that's done, if you want to start doing anything, brush up on basic physiology of each system and start learning basic medical terminology. Your BOG waiver will be available to you at Sierra once your FAFSA is completed and Sierra is listed at your school. The book list your going to have to wait for, the books aren't always the same as the previous semester. Our books are different from the other class. As far as clinical goes, you will find out the locations at Orientation. I am not going to post it on the site because we are asked to remain discreet with social media and especially with linking facilities. The locations are great and don't require much commuting from the Rocklin area. You will be given the code to register after all of the required documentation is completed. I highly recommend starting a Facebook page this summer, we did that after acceptances went out and actually had a few get togethers before class started to meet each other. LASTLY! Enjoy your summer! Rest, spend time with friends and family and have some fun! The semester starts full speed day one, so you will need it:)

The full schedule will be in the syllabus which you will get before class. They should give tentative schedules at the orietatiom in Summer(ours was in June). You have two days of class AND two days of clinical each week. Your clinical shifts are typically 630-230 first semester, but there is one group whose clinical hours are 230-1030pm, you don't pick your clinical group or shift and they don't switch people around if you're not happy with the shift. Everyone will be on PM's during one semester in the program unless the hospital changes. BTW, although Sierra has a pretty streamlined program between each class and the schedule will be pretty similar. This is how it was for my class, we are not aware of changes they make for future classes each year, so all of the schedule information I've shared about how my class and the class before us was, it may or may not change for new classes. Overall, expect to be in school/clinical 4 days a week.

Fall 2018 Nursing Sierra College
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone accepted! It's an amazing program and we can't wait to meet you all at your orientation this summer! As far as the schedule for 1st and 2nd semester you have class Monday 8am-230pm Tuesday/Wednesday Clinical 630am-330pm or 230pm-1030pm and Thursday 9am-1220pm. That's a typical week, but the first couple weeks each semester the hours change up a bit because you have skills labs, there is also other meeting and stuff throughout each semester. Working during the program depends on the person. We have a lot of students who work in our class, but a lot of them took some time off at the beginning until they got an idea of the workload and the flow of their studying. It's doable, but the faculty makes it VERY clear that the schedule is not flexible to our schedules and we have to make it work. We are contracted through hospitals and required to have a certain amount of clinical hours so you have to be there. There is not much flexibility with it, with that said, more than half our class works and our class is doing well.

Fall 2018 Nursing Sierra College
Hey Cimarron, They do not accept AP courses for prerequisite classes. Colleges may give you credit, but the nursing program requires specific COLLEGE courses that have been approved as equivalent, they don't look into high school classes for equivalency. For GPA calculations only Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Math and English are taken into consideration for the points assignment on your application.

Questions for Sacramento Nurses! Pay+benefits 2018
With your experience, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting a job in this area. It might take some time, but start applying as soon as you can because the hospitals hire in waves from what I understand. Kaiser pays the most, but all the hospitals compensate well and the benefits are great. The best paying hospitals are the ones who have a union, so look for those ones and I believe you can look up the starting salaries on their websites. Good luck...

Chamberlain Sac May 2017
They allow you to take the HESI twice. If your score isn't high enough the first time, they will have you take it again. For me I found out about 2-4weeks after I took it the first time. The HESI is usually the last piece of your application to submit to the panel. They will tell you after they have your completed application pieces when the panel meets and they will call you the same day or the day after they decide.

Chamberlain Sac May 2017
Chamberlain weighs each section of the HESI differently, so overall you score a 91, but when they weigh certain sections higher than it will adjust your score depending on how well you did.
