How many of you are there? What's next for you? I've just registered for classes. We only have one set of clinicals in the first semester. It's adult care 1. Other than that we have assessment and fundamentals. I need to get my physical and get tested to see if I still have immunity from previous vaccines. If not, I get to be a pin cushion for a little while :) Other than that, I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for school now that I'm taking on twice the tuition bill transferring to a university. I'm applying to two hospitals to see if I can get in their scholarship and service programs. This is a super busy month!

Starting CSC's BSN-RN program Fall 2012! I am so excited- and absolutely terrified! I scheduled my CPR class and physical/vaccination appointment. I haven't registered for classes yet because have I just barely secured my spot (yesterday!) Hopefully I'll receive my official information packet soon :)

I am! I just received my acceptance letter yesterday and have reread it what feels like a hundred times just to be sure I am not dreaming! It really is a dream come true. I look forward to sharing our experiences on this board, as well as suggestions and support for one another. Congratulations to all who made it into nursing school! We've worked hard for it and earned it!

I'm also starting this fall! I'm so excited! I've been stalking this site all day. I'm so excited! I'm looking forward to this experience and learning everything. I don't have much of a support system so I'm looking forward meeting some fellow nursing students to relate too! Congrats to everyone as well!

Hi everyone! I just finished my last pre req for the program this past fall, so I was over the moon when I was accepted to the program at HCC (Maryland) for the fall. I can't even tell you how many times I have read the acceptance letter. I am so excited, yet nervous at the same time. Even though we haven't received our packets or orientation dates yet I have already started with my vaccines. I actually did my CPR course today, so it is one less thing to worry about.

On a side note... What stethoscope are you planning to get? I purchased the Littmann Classic II after hearing rave reviews. I decided to get the all black edition and the company engraved it for free.

Good Luck everyone and congratulations!

Thank you for your input. Upon further investigation, e-Text books are NOT cheaper, mine are'nt even available on itunes and you can only open one book at a time on this tablet. The main benefit I see is not having the expense of printing power points when you can download them and record lectures in real time.... Think I'll wait until classes begin, then figure it out.

Bearcat... I plan to use an iPad for school. I have a wonderful program that allows me to record my lectures at the same time as I am taking notes. The one benefit of it is the program syncs audio with what I type, so if I am studying and need to review a section I just click my notes and the audio begins playing. I also use the cloud to upload things between my iPad and iphone, so if I don't have my iPad on me I can always use my phone to study material. At my school we have to buy our power points in a bundle as we are not allowed to print certain things out. My iPad won't be the only thing I use, but I feel it will definitely be beneficial. Also you are correct Ebooks are rarely cheaper then text books.

Did you get your stethoscope online? If so, which site did you visit? I've been considering getting an ipad for school as well but I feel I do better physically writing the notes so we'll see!

I start in the Fall too, and I dont know of anyone using ipads in class, but I did not opt for the online book registry. I would rather have all hard cover books. that way, you can have a bunch of books open at the same time on a large table. with a computer, you have to keep switching views. Seems harder to go from one to another looking for information.

granted it IS cheaper, but I would rather pay the extra $ and have it easier on me. Also with regard to powerpoints or other docs, I would rather have them on paper than on the computer. But thats just me :)

Actually using the ebooks are a cool tool. In my school we receive hard and ebooks. I prefer the ebooks because the weight of carrying so many books, also they have dictionary or additional information inside the reading. Often I don't have a need to resource other material. I love the search option in the book it is so much better than the glossary. It is also really cool to take readings and copy and paste them into points. I love my ebooks. Especially right now with finals I can study my material at any time and anywhere. But I guess I am lucky our school uses both. Some students prefer hard copies but I am glad that we have options. Good luck everyone!!!

I got my stethoscope via Medisave. The all black edition is sharp looking and easy to spot. Which hopefully will keep it from growing legs and walking lol. The do free engraving and also have lots of symbols that can be engraved on it. I found that Medisave.com was the best price and shipping was fast.

Just got accepted to the ADN program at my college! Feeling a bit stunned this weekend... and so happy!

I'm admitted for a BSN program this fall and can't wait!! My orientation isn't until July and I'm freaking out waiting! I just want to know everything already. My school also requires the iPad. I think I will like it so I do not have to lug my books on the subway/bus to class.

So I've started my titers and immunizations. Dude. tdap hurts. (on a strange note, my iPhone autocorrected titers to titters. What is titters?)

"Titters" is a verb. (to Titter) It's like a little laugh, usually at something scandalous. Think junior high girls when the teacher says "member" in class.

I am also starting in the fall. I am leaving behind the world of 8th grade English to explore the world of medicine. Does anyone else feel like they will be learning an entirely new language in the next few years? I am so excited but really nervous.
