How many of you are there? What's next for you? I've just registered for classes. We only have one set of clinicals in the first semester. It's adult care 1. Other than that we have assessment and fundamentals. I need to get my physical and get tested to see if I still have immunity from previous vaccines. If not, I get to be a pin cushion for a little while :) Other than that, I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for school now that I'm taking on twice the tuition bill transferring to a university. I'm applying to two hospitals to see if I can get in their scholarship and service programs. This is a super busy month!

I got in! I start on May and will also be working 3 days a week so let's keep fingers crossed. Good-luck everyone and let's get this thing started! There are some great post on here about supplies and things.

Specializes in Neonatal ICU.

I will be starting in the Fall, too! I won't find out specific course/clinical info until my orientation on July 17th, but right now I'm working on completing my background check (getting my fingerprints rolled tomorrow and that should finish it) and health requirements (my titer came back positive for everything, so now I just have to have one more TB screening in June). As for the uniforms, from what I understand after stalking the website, we wear dark blue scrubs with the Jefferson patches while we're at our clinical sites, and white lab clothes over professional clothes while we're in our classes. I'm so excited! Congrats to everyone who was accepted for the Fall!!! :-)

Congratulations! What specialty are you headed toward?

Specializes in none.

I got accepted April 2nd to Covenant School of Nursing in Lubbock, TX. I have to meet with student health and become a human pin cushion. I still have to take A&P II in the Summer I semester and will begin August 8th. Congrats to everyone who are beginning this journey and I wish you the best!!!

Heroldbe,

I went with the Littman Classic II S.E, check out Littmann Stethoscopes plus they do free laser engraving on all Littmans! Good luck

Thank you for this tip! :)

I just received my acceptance letter yesterday after a SIX MONTH wait!!! :yelclap:

I'm totally elated! By happy accident, I met someone who is currently in the program at my school, and we've stayed in contact, so I'm excited to pick her brain and get insight into the program!

I'm very grateful to say we have black scrubs - white would have been awful!

Congrats to you all! Looking forward to all of our conversations as we begin our programs!!!

Yay!!!! So excited to be "in it" with a big group of other students! I'm totally intimidated by the first semester hellishness, but I have to tell you.... if I drop out (or fail out) my first semester, my husband might kill me. lol He's put up with so much just so I could get this far, there is NO turning back!

Do you guys know what kind of uniform you'll have to wear? I'm pretty happy that we wont be doing white scrubs. I didn't even consider them until I read about them on here. We wear professional clothes with a lab coat over them. I think I'd rather wear scrubs, but would rather wear regular clothes instead of white scrubs.

I'm taking a CNA class too! (can't remember who mentioned it, I'm sorry!) I'll be starting it next week, actually, and it will wrap up by the last day of school for my kids. Hopefully that will give me a good head start on this scholarship I'm applying for, which requires the CNA certification. I'm also a bit intimidated by entering clinicals and not having any hands on experience whatsoever. I'd rather get the nervousness out of my system before the semester starts. It will be hard enough just learning the material without being afraid of getting hands on with patients.

Ours are navy blue scrubs. I don't know if this is just at clinicals or during class time too. Also, a white lab coat at certain times.

Specializes in ER, Med-surg.

I know that my school requires white scrubs for clinicals and for classes, or a polo shirt and khakis for classes. I'm not so excited about those white scrubs. I'll be wearing Depends when Aunt Flo comes to visit. :uhoh3:

OMG I didn't even consider AF in white scrubs! Eek! I don't even want to think about that!

Well I hate to burst your bubble, but please be realistic, all of you. You may be taken by surprise by your instructor who decided one day to pick on you. Once he or she starts, he or she will never stop. You have to have a strong emotional constitution. I learned that the hard way. One day on the hospital floor I was criticized and humiliated by my instructor so much that by noon I fell apart at the seams and was asked to take a leave of absence. The trouble is now that I can get back in in a semester or two but on a space available basis only. After all of the acceptees have responded, then if there are any spots left, I will be able to start again. That doesn't sound too hopeful to me. It leaves a lot of room on their part to hem and haw and put me off until I finally give up. I'm sick over it. I am so depressed and anxious that I entered an outpatient program called partial hospital to give me the skills to cope with this situation and others like it. I am a basket case. Mind your ps and qs is right!!!

We have hunter green scrub tops and khaki scrub bottoms--not too bad. I assume that's only for clinical, but now you have me curious.

I was also happy to find out we will be using iclickers--which I had never heard of. It's a little device where the instructor can ask a question and then everyone clicks a button to choose their response. Then all the responses are logged and graphed to give the instructor immediate feedback about student understanding. I'm thinking this will help keep those long 3 hour lectures interactive. :p
