Fall 2012 new nursing students roll call!!!

Published

How many of you are there? What's next for you? I've just registered for classes. We only have one set of clinicals in the first semester. It's adult care 1. Other than that we have assessment and fundamentals. I need to get my physical and get tested to see if I still have immunity from previous vaccines. If not, I get to be a pin cushion for a little while :) Other than that, I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for school now that I'm taking on twice the tuition bill transferring to a university. I'm applying to two hospitals to see if I can get in their scholarship and service programs. This is a super busy month!

I'm in for Fall 2012 as well! I'm in the process of getting my immunization boosters and just had my titer done. We have orientation June 12th and I am hoping to have my schedule at that time. The nursing faculty make our schedules, so I have no idea what my hours are going to be like. I am so excited, yet super nervous at the same time!

Congrats to everyone that has a seat for Fall 2012 :)

I just got my acceptance letter this past week. We find everything out in May for our August start. I already got my stethoscope and a few supplies so its not so much stuff to buy at once. Congrats to all the other fall 2012 students!:yeah:This is gonna be great I am soooo excited!!!

I just got my acceptance to an Accelerated Second Degree BSN program. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I've been poking around and have managed to dig up the course schedule, book list, and uniform requirements from last year. I know it may change some, but I couldn't wait until June to start finding out details. :) I will have 5 nursing classes a lab and a clinical in the fall and there are 17 books on the list--it's going to be a busy year! Start date is August 20th.

The only thing I need to do this summer is immunizations, background check, and CPR training. Oh, and I need to work out some child care issues.

Hi! I just got my acceptance letter last week!!! I'll be starting in the fall as well! So excited!! Orientation is in June, I'm getting my physical/titers done before then, then it's time to do the ultimate back to school shopping!!!! Already did the CPR and all of my non-nursing corequisites are finished! Congrats everyone and good luck!!!

i got my acceptance letter at the beginning of this month! we will be getting an information packet in may that has the requirements (i know a physical and criminal background check), our books and supplies list (i know this is somewhere between $1,100 and $1,300 not counting the uniforms we have to buy), our syllabus, the date of orientation, etc. i am sooo excited!! i'm not sure of my exact schedule yet, but i think tuesdays & wednesdays will be lecture days and skills lab and thursdays & fridays will be clinicals! i'm not sure how they divide the lectures up. the class is just called nursing i (which is adult care) and is 9 credit hours. there are 5 professors. i am so ready to get that information packet and buy my books and supplies. i've heard i need to start on the reading as soon as possible because they hit the ground running on day 1! congrats to everyone who is starting in the fall!

I'll be starting in the Fall as well. I've got orientation on wednesday, and quite a bit of stuff to get done before august! I'm torn between being elated, and nervous as hell! :lol2:

Congrats to everyone who'll be starting this fall!

I start this fall also. It's a bsn program so I'm taking Nursing Fundamentals and Skills, along with Anthropology and Epidemiology. After this fall, I'm finished with everything except my nursing courses. Whoot! I get my information packet next week sometime since I have to work and can't attend the orientation :(. I'm also doing a cna course over the summer so hopefully God will send some blessings my way and I'll get hired into a hospital! lol Now, I just need to pick out my stethoscope. Sooo many choices! Does anyone have a good recommendation for a new nursing student? Price doesn't really matter at this point.

I just got my acceptance letter last night to the Nursing school of my choice :w00t: :) Its about 10 minutes from my home and they accepted 25. I am so excited. Orientation is in the beginning of May and I am so excited yet nervous at the same time. I can't wait to begin. My husband got me a new Littman Cardiology III black edition for my "getting accepted" present. :) haha I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!! So excited to be "in it" with a big group of other students! I'm totally intimidated by the first semester hellishness, but I have to tell you.... if I drop out (or fail out) my first semester, my husband might kill me. lol He's put up with so much just so I could get this far, there is NO turning back!

Do you guys know what kind of uniform you'll have to wear? I'm pretty happy that we wont be doing white scrubs. I didn't even consider them until I read about them on here. We wear professional clothes with a lab coat over them. I think I'd rather wear scrubs, but would rather wear regular clothes instead of white scrubs.

I'm taking a CNA class too! (can't remember who mentioned it, I'm sorry!) I'll be starting it next week, actually, and it will wrap up by the last day of school for my kids. Hopefully that will give me a good head start on this scholarship I'm applying for, which requires the CNA certification. I'm also a bit intimidated by entering clinicals and not having any hands on experience whatsoever. I'd rather get the nervousness out of my system before the semester starts. It will be hard enough just learning the material without being afraid of getting hands on with patients.

Heroldbe,

I went with the Littman Classic II S.E, check out Littmann Stethoscopes plus they do free laser engraving on all Littmans! Good luck

Ixchel,

My school we wear navy scrub pants and polo's and white lab coats with school name on it, oh and all white sneakers.

Still have not gotten my letter, but my school posted them online today and....... I got in!!!! Congrats to all my fellow classmates. I am so excited to sign up for classes. Does anyone else start classes this summer??
