How many of you are there? What's next for you? I've just registered for classes. We only have one set of clinicals in the first semester. It's adult care 1. Other than that we have assessment and fundamentals. I need to get my physical and get tested to see if I still have immunity from previous vaccines. If not, I get to be a pin cushion for a little while :) Other than that, I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for school now that I'm taking on twice the tuition bill transferring to a university. I'm applying to two hospitals to see if I can get in their scholarship and service programs. This is a super busy month!
We have hunter green scrub tops and khaki scrub bottoms--not too bad. I assume that's only for clinical, but now you have me curious.I was also happy to find out we will be using iclickers--which I had never heard of. It's a little device where the instructor can ask a question and then everyone clicks a button to choose their response. Then all the responses are logged and graphed to give the instructor immediate feedback about student understanding. I'm thinking this will help keep those long 3 hour lectures interactive.
Wow, the iclickers sound awesome! What a great learning tool!!!
Hi, everyone! I just joined this forum and will be starting a concurrent RN / BSN program in the fall. (Actually will be taking one class this summer that is required as well) The program is a community college RN program with clinicals and on-line university classes at the same time. I am excited and nervous. I am a mid-life career changer, having been a teacher for 15 years and a public health educator for a couple of years as well. My daughter is just finishing up her first semester of an RN program so I am looking forward to having her to bounce ideas off and study together. Looking forward to this part of the journey, and expecting a wild ride!
Hello! I'm starting in the fall too! Right now I am finishing my last semester of prerequisites. Over the summer I have to do my BLS cert, get my physical. I also plan to get my CNA cert so that maybe I can work some during school. Other than that I plan to read for fun and play guitar all summer before things get nuts. Oh and freeze a bunch of meals before school starts, so the family doesn't starve.
Congrats to everyone!
Congrats to everyone on being accepted in the nursing program! And don't give up on those who got wait listed or rejected! Ive been accepted for the fall at NVCC! I'm so pumped! Still have to go through the physical and orientation, but I can't wait to start! :)
To those going for CNA or want to, great idea! I'm a CNA now in a hospital and im getting a ton of experience from the nurses I work with! I plan on keeping my 24hrs a week during nursing school, even though it will be tough, it's well worth it because I am working with nurses and learning everyday from them. Plus, in the future employers like that you have experience in the field so its deff worth it! :)
I am starting this fall, and I could not be more excited. I am going into a 2 year ADN program at the local CC here. I am struggling not to get overly excited and buy everything I need for school now, but I do want to hold off and get a little bit at a time so I have something to look forward to. I love to shop and even though scrubs are not exactly flattering garments, I am excited to shop for them because it makes it more "official" lol

I feel the same way! I only have to wait two more weeks for my informational meeting and it is killing me!..lol I just want to get started already:bugeyes:
I got my acceptance letter this week too!! I start the ADN program in August! I'm so excited, after countless rejection letters I FINALLY got in!!! I can't stop talking about it to everyone. My orientation session isn't until the end of May, so now I just have to wait and I swear it's just as bad as waiting for the acceptance letter. Congrats to everyone else who got in!!! woot woot!

I'm so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I do think it's incredibly important to learn to roll with the punches, though I don't agree with the way your instructor attempted to teach you that. We all might face a belligerent patient or coworker some day, so I absolutely feel it's important to learn to let things roll off your back.
I hope you really work your butt off and get back in that program! Go back in with your head held high and BE CONFIDENT. Show them they made a mistake in letting you go. Work harder, be stronger, learn to let the little stuff go. Let this be the ultimate learning experience for you - don't let it define you. I wish you the best!
And now back to enjoying my acceptance high. :thankya:
