I just got an email with an acceptance letter to Estrella Mountain C.C.!!!! I start in fall 2008 and I am so excited!!! Has anyone else gotten accepted into this program??? I believe this is the first "official" class to start from Block 1 at Estrella....
YAY!!!! I'm still in shock, I can't believe it!!?!?!!
Yes I received the same information, but I asked her about the CPR and she said it had to be completed before Orientation, which I believe is August 20th?? Where are you going to get yours done? I was going to go to GCC to get it, but they are not offering as many classes as last year and the ones they are, are already closed.
I've no idea yet where to take it. I was looking at the EMCC catalog and it mentioned something about CPR PRO but did not have dates and times on it. I still need to call the number and ask. As I get more information regarding this and other places, I'll keep you posted. I hope you do likewise. My other major concern is immunization. I no longer have records and I need to get a titer first...
I believe I have everything I need for immunizations. Thankfully when I started volunteering at Estrella they paid for it to be done. I'm just not sure if I got all of the ones that I need because I too have lost my records, Great examples we are!?!? I tried looking at the class schedule for EMCC and didn't see any posted for the summer or the fall schedule. Maybe I will have better luck calling the school and talking to registration. I'll keep ya updated, maybe we can take it together if our schedules work!

Since you volunteer for BEMC, you can take the CPR Pro classes offered by the hospital for free. Just keep an eye out for fliers and whatnot, and ask around. They're always offering them. That's how I got my own CPR card before I started nursing school.
On a side note, what area do you volunteer in? I may have bumped into you a few times since I work at BEMC as PFS. :)

these are the two websites that clarissa gave me. seems like heartsavers has several classes between now and orientation. if i take it during the summer, i'll probably aim to take it on saturday, so i don't have to take off work.

Same thing with me, I've been looking at schedules but can't find the schedule for the classes we need. All this suspense is killing me. Keep me posted if you find more info. I'll do the same.

Yes, I need to get CPR certification as well. I got the impression that we need to have it completed prior to registration for Block 1. I was advised that I can take certification anytime as it is good for 2 years. I just have to make sure that it's the class "specifically designed for Healthcare Providers that includes Adult, child, infant CPR, as well
as hands on AED instruction."
