Fall 2008 Acceptance Letter - Estrella Mountain

I just got an email with an acceptance letter to Estrella Mountain C.C.!!!! I start in fall 2008 and I am so excited!!! Has anyone else gotten accepted into this program??? I believe this is the first "official" class to start from Block 1 at Estrella....

YAY!!!! I'm still in shock, I can't believe it!!?!?!!:yeah:

Oooh! I'm excited to go home now! I haven't received it yet, but I was told to expect it in the mail by the end of the week! What is your schedule? I'm assuming mine will be the same... I seriously can't wait to get home now, I've been waiting for this for a while now!

Have you taken your CPR class yet? I take mine on August 9th through the heartsavers program in Avondale. Just wondering if you had done yours yet or not. If not, maybe you can sign up for that class to?

Thanks! Actually, I took the class last June. I also did it in Avondale (over at La Petite Academy) via HeartSavers. Now I just have to make sure I remember what they taught me . You all set for class? Btw, did you sign up for that NUR145AB? I did. Hopefully, that class helps out. Have you gotten the uniforms? I've not had a chance to do that yet. I was thinking on 8/22 after the orientation. I hope supply does not run out.

Have fun at the CPR class. When you registered, you made sure you told them CPR PRO right? I guess everyone takes the same class. You just get different types of certification card depending on what you need it for.

I'm taking the class at the same location, I told them that I needed the CPR for healthcare providers and he said ok, so I assume I'm taking the CPR PRO. I'll call before the class one more time to double check though. Thank you for the heads up!

I haven't gotten my uniform yet. I'm still debating on how many pairs to get and I've heard from a lot of students that it is better to go down there in person and try them on because they sizes are a little off. So I'll pry do it when I resign from my job in two weeks.

I did sign up for the review class and I too hope that it helps out!! I'm sure any kind of review will be good.

Have you received a book list yet? I will be dissappointed if they really wait until the day of orientation to give us our book list. I know that you can find books for cheaper online, but if they wait that long, there is no way I could order a book online and get it in time for class.

Its getting closer!!! Are you nervous or excited? I'm a little of both!! :chuckle

Hi. Nope, no book list yet. It looks like we just have to wait till our orientation to get all the information we need. So you're also putting in your notice huh? I guess we're both waiting for 8/5 (or should it be 8/6? ) for exactly 2 weeks notice. Yeah, just like you I am pretty excited and nervous at the same time. I am keeping my fingers crossed (and toes too) that all goes well.

About the uniforms, I was told "You will need the uniforms by August 28th, but you will only need to wear them on days when you're working in a lab setting. The instructors want you to wear your uniform even if you're performing lab duties on campus. You will be able to wear regular clothes on days when you only have lecture though. Most students get by with only 2 pairs of scrubs, but you may want to order an additional pair just in case."

So there's still plenty of time to get them, and yeah, an additional pair is probably a good idea.

Congrats ERTiger!!! I'm always excited when we meet people who will be going to EMCC with us! I don't work in a hospital, what hospital do you work in? I will be doing home healthcare while I'm in school because it seems to be one of the more "flexible" jobs that will work with our schedule.

Skys: I looked on the bookstore website and they have a packaged deal that has all of our books in it and I believe I'm going to go on Monday to see if I can get it. I assume since it is on the website that we can purchase it in the store. The cost is just over 1000 dollars - :eek:ouch! I guess its a small price to pay to achieve your dream :nurse:

your books are going to be used threw out the four blocks, the first block is when you get most of your books. some of my friends that go to other schools have said the uniform people go to the school and you can purchase them then. does anyone know when the shots have to be done by?

i wondered if they would be used through out the four blocks...that would be nice if that is the case.

all of your immunizations, cpr, and background check have to be done by the day of orientation. i believe our paper said that they were going to give us the information for the drug test on the day of our orientation and then like skys said the uniforms need to be purchased by the 28th.

did you sign up for the review class on thursdays?

isnt the background check the fingerprint card? are u sure the shots have to be done by orentation? thats not much time to get everything done! yes i did sign up for the thursday class.

I'm pretty sure they have to be done by then. It really doesn't take that long to get it done. My records were lost, so when I go in they will draw my blood and test it for the Titers of each vaccine. Then you get your TB test done and that takes like a minute for them to do and then you go back so many hours later and they check it again and if all is well you are done. If you need any of the vaccines then most likely they will give them to you right there. We still have about a month before school starts, you can't get in before then?

So what did you two think of the orientation?? Are you ready for Monday? I bought the tote and it didn't have the stethescope or BP Cuff inside of it and when I emailed Clarissa to find out what exactly we needed she said that we might not even need the tote now.. ugh I'm so confused!!! She told me to just wait until the first day of class and figure out exactly what else we need.
