Failed 5th time is there God I can't study anymore!!!!!!!!

Published

I did everything you can think of I spent over $3000 trying to take this exam with no job and a 7 month old what else can I do I hate this feeling I hate to doubt God but he let devil take power over him what else can i do!!! I am giving up maybe nursing is not for me maybe I just love people and not nursing as a career because this is too much for me to handle

I agree, 3 times to pass the NCLEX just like the Bar. It's reasonable.

But that has not happened yet, so I would say to the OP to find out where you are failing, work on it, maybe take some time and keep trying. I don't know what else to say, and I'm sorry you are so stressed.

what a typical stereotype.lol

take a break dude, PREPARE AND LOTS OF PRAYERS :)

Hi! First off I would like to say that if helping people is your passion and you made it through nursing school you can pass this exam. I just recently failed for my 4th time. I too have spent a lot of money on products and this exam and I am making ends meet just from babysitting. Granted I do not have a child and I give you all the credit for studying and keeping up with a 7 month old. What exactly have you done for studying? I know I have used many things such as Kaplan, Lacharity: Prioritization, delegation, and assessment, NCLEX 10,000, Saunders, I had a private tutor. I am changing it up and I will use/find something new such as ATI to use to prepare for my next exam.

I wouldn't give up just yet! This test will not define what type of nurse you will be, if anything it will define your perseverance and desire to become a nurse. I don't know if you have taken a break between each time or if you waited just the 45 days, but maybe take a break to refuel and start from square one. Filter out what worked for you while studying and who you think didn't work. I know for me, studying content was the wrong path. It made me feel overwhelmed and panicky. I will be focusing on strategy and learning to understand what the question is really asking.

Don't give up!! Realize you are not alone and you aren't the first to go through this. Have Faith! :)

Wow wow wow! I can't believe some of you are nurses!! Where's the love? Poor woman/man comes here looking for help and you shoot her/him down. The Nclex is NOT, I repeat is NOT an accurate parameter of your nursing abilities. I do believe, however, that after the third attempt, one should go in front of a panel interview board and be tested orally.

OP, I passed my Nclex the 5th time, was desperate and doubting myself. I now work for a magnet hospital, the ultimate credential for nurses. Somehow, I seriously doubt that any of the posters that shot you down work for a magnet hospital. They simply don't care enough for people and it would've shown in their interview. Don't give up! Change strategies and buy yourself the Lacharity book Prioritization, delegation and assignment. Best of luck!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I could care less about magnet hospitals and I know I'm not the only one.

And saying most of us just don't care enough for people is just.......well......plain ignorant.

Finally, sometimes true compassion and caring for someone is just being honest with them, even when the honesty isn't the easiest thing to hear.

Flame suit is on so I'm ready to be flamed. I think after not passing 5 times you need to re-evaluate. There really should be a cap on attempts at the NCLEX. The test is supposed to indicate the minimum standard for being a nurse. Even baseball has 3 strikes and you're out.

THIS!!! Here's the thing, at this point the OP should either be seriously re-evaluating the way s/he is approaching the preparation for the NCLEX or s/he needs to move on and accept that being a nurse right now is not meant to be.

I know there will be differing points of view, but to be completely honest the NCLEX is a very fundamental and basic exam which statistically computes whether or not you are ready to perform nursing duties in a safe and competent way on day 1. Just because someone passed nursing school doesn't mean that they are competent to be a nurse. If they can't pass the basic, fundamental licensing exam then they need to move on and find something else that they can be successful in. My guess is that there are several people who succeeded in nursing school but never passed the NCLEX. I know of at least 3 people personally.

The OP should apply the nursing process to his/her preparation strategy for the NCLEX. Assess what the reason(s) is/are for not passing, create a plan based on that assessment, implement the plan, and then evaluate it (particularly if s/he doesn't pass again). Some questions that are raised for me include how is the OP preparing? Are they doing NCLEX questions in preparation or just reviewing content? How many questions are they doing per day?

Now for the tough love part - as someone else said, life isn't all about rainbows, bubble gum, and unicorns. Not being successful 5 times on the NCLEX just screams that there is a problem, and it just may be that the OP is not cut out to be a nurse, at least right now. If the OP can't pass a basic, fundamental exam to ensure safe practice, how is that person going to successfully get through orientation and then practice on their own while applying critical thinking and the ability to multitask? I know someone will say that the NCLEX doesn't necessarily mean that the person won't make a good nurse. Sure, anything is possible. Actually, I know nurses that passed the NCLEX and I wouldn't ever allow them to take care of me or my family. If you look at the situation deductively, you can safely deduce that this person is not a good fit for nursing right now. And I agree with the comments that there should be a limit on how many times a person can take the NCLEX. Five times is far too many.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I could care less about magnet hospitals and I know I'm not the only one.

And saying most of us just don't care enough for people is just.......well......plain ignorant.

THIS! Just because someone wants to be a nurse doesn't necessarily mean that they should (or can) be a nurse.

I really tried hard not to say this, but I can't keep it in.

God did not take the test. You did. God is not responsible for your result. You are.

Thinking that God is responsible for your NCLEX result is magical thinking. Magical thinking is the antithesis of the nursing process.

Oh, God! I'll bite.

I think God is trying to tell you something, and it has nothing to do with the devil. He's probably trying to say that nursing is not for you. If, after five attempts, you're still flunking the NCLEX, it's time to listen.

Please keep this fundamentalist God stuff on the "Nursing and Spirituality" forum where only folks who are expecting it will run across it. Those of us who aren't fundamentalists of any ilk tend not to appreciate it, and it may influence our opinion of you.

No, not a stereotype. OP is not a native English speaker, as evidenced by their grammar and diction. Hence my post. IEN nurses have statistically demonstrated much lower passing rates after the first try. It's not a dig at OP, just a fact.

never give up never surrender!!! U Can Do it just think when U do pass the Nclex how smart U will be and how much you will know when u get that first nursing job

First, the "text speak" is both unprofessional and against the TOS.

Second, you're wrong. Not everyone can do it and not everyone should. After failing the NCLEX five times, perhaps the OP is one of those who can't and/or shouldn't.

No flames. I think you're spot on.
