Failed Teas Test Twice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I currently go to a community college that requires the NLN exam. But I tried to get into a private college that required taking the Teas V and getting a 66%. I failed it both times. Has anyone taken the TEAS and the NLN? Which is harder? I only had a couple weeks to study for the TEAS but will have a couple months to study for the NLN. I really want to be a Nurse I don't want to give up. Does anyone have any suggestions on studying the NLN? I have the book. Any suggestions would be great.

The Teas is a pretty basic test. It all depends on what kind of school you want to go to and how much money your want to spend. Plus you have to look at how many times you are allowed to take these tests. At my school it is twice. I would research the schools you want to go to and their requirements. Then I would study for whatever test that school wants you to take.

I have no idea. My school makes us take the test, but it is not used for admission. I took took the test and I scores 82% which is advanced I think, not sure. The test had a tom of Chemistry in the science portion, which was shocking to me. I have not taken Chemistry is a long time.

I took it before getting into the LPN program at my school. I literally applied to the program and HAD to take it the very next day, so no studying or anything. And it was my 20th birthday, fun way to spend a birthday, a 2-3 hour test woo!

Anyways, I ended up scoring 69 or 70. Which isn't too bad considering. My school required at least a 64 for admission. What does your school require??

They do have test manuals to study, but honestly it is pretty basic things based off what you should have learned in prereqs before nursing school. So if you haven't taken them yet you will probably struggle, I had a lot of A&P when I took it.

I know my program requires a 70 on Teas for individual parts. It's pretty basic but it's filled with things some people may forget. The reading section, for example, has terms I forgot until I read the TEAS test manual.

I have no idea which one of the 2 is harder, but for the Teas use their official study book. It's sold on their website or amazon wherever you find it cheaper.

Make sure to brush up on basic math, and chemistry for the teas. If you use their book I think you should be fine.

Best of luck to you

Iven taken both the NLN and the teas. Theyre both about the same in materials but i found the teas english portion much easier i scored a 80 on the teas and scored in the 89 percentile for the NLN math and science were my highest i found english hard and unnecessary lol the mcgrawhill nln guide is spot on for math and science. Math is extremely easy if you know math without a calculator. Science portion had about 5 anatomy related questions it was mostly gen bio and lots of physics! Levers, circuits etc. english tere was a reading portion super easy but the vocab was just hard dont know how to really study for it read a doctionary? Loll overall i atudied a month in advance little by little dont over due it and just be confident going into the test :)

I take mine dec 20 im worried about this teas test. I did some math practice questions and I haven't done these basic things in years

The science portion was heavy in chemistry. I would say the science portion was about 90% chemistry.

Is there a lot of chemistry like an earlier poster said?

The version of the test I took was very heavy in that area. I actually only have like questions about anatomy and physiology. The rest was about chemical compounds, kinetic energy, potential energy etc.

I seem to remember more A&P being in the TEAS than chemistry. I don't know how much they vary though, and from year to year.
