Failed NCLEX 6 times

Nursing Students NCLEX

I failed Nclex 6 times..the crazy thing is the past 5 times my results are coming bk as NEAR PASSING in all 8 areas..I know I know this material but prioritization questions/Safety and infection Control is what keeps confusing me..If i have a pt on Airborne precautions..I know that person will be placed in a private room with Negative pressure..I also know that you will put the pt on a surgical mask if they had to be transported..So being that said if both of these options are in the answer choices then which one do i pick?? AND... What would u check first hypertension or pulse (both high) I would think BP....I can narrow down to the last 2 but looks like im picking the wrong one. I dont understand what i am doing wrong...maybe i need a break. AND..some of the questions im reading are giving me answer choices that are not even relevant to the question yet ARE IMPORTANT....thats another place im keep messing up on..IM LOSING MY MIND PLEASE HELP ME!!!!:crying2:

Never give up!! Push on. when you do pass it will that much sweeter... Keep your head up and take a good break then come back fighting for your license you went to school for.... Much luv..

I second taking a break and praying to St. Joseph of Cuppertino. He has always come through on my high stakes exams.[/quote']

Can u post the prayer of saint joseph of cuppertino thanks

If you can narrow down to 2 answers, then the question you have to ask yourself is: If I don't do it, which one is going to hurt the patient the most? Airborne patient, - pressure room or mask while not in room. I would def choose negative pressure room b/c what's going to hurt the pt more? If doc gave ok to let pt leave the room, then it should mean that he/she is stable enough to go to tests/procedures, but -presure is there to protect the pt from incoming germs AND protecting us and other pt from airborne pt's germs.

Hypertension or tachycardia? I would def go with hypertension, b.c again what hurts pt more? I believe high bp would be much worse than high pulse (stroke, MI, HF for ex). so ya, asking myself that question after narrowing qxes down really helped me out.

I'm definitely going to disagree with this. I'm going to stabilize HR first then BP. Increased HR leads to decreased CO which can lead to a slew of other problems in other body systems (think decreased perfusion everywhere- brain, kidneys, heart.).

Are you looking at the RATIONALES when studying????? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start looking at rationales to EVERY question you study TODAY.

Also look on here for stickies on AN by the admins and experienced members for strategies, etc.

Also, what have you used??? You may need to changed your studying material...Saunders, Kaplan, Cram-Exam, LaCharity, NCSBN?? If you have not used any of these before, please start finding study guides with NCLEX???

I just read you need help with Prioritization: PLEASE look up the LaCharity book, ASAP of you have not done so and any book on alternative question format.

Keep using the questions READ the RATIONALES, keep testing yourself! I didn't go into the exam until I got 70% of the content correct on the questions from my study guides. Once I was able to do that, I went in and passed.

Good Luck!!!

If time is a constraint:

1) Utilize Saunders Q&A flash cards, PharmPhlash cards to review pharm, Exam-Cram and Kaplan for knowledge and strategy respectfully, and if you have a smartphone or a tablet, there are Lippincott apps for free.

2) spend time reviewing each source for 1-2 weeks; if you cover it sooner, review questions, go over rationales, try to aim for at least 70% correct on questions, move to the next source. I did Kaplan, PharmPhlash, Exam-CRAM, LaCharity, NCSBN questions, and Saunders Flash cards, and Lippincott in that order. It took me 2 months, then I scheduled my exam, and passed it the first time.

3) Focus on what subjects you are having difficulty with...review rationales and why it is a better choice answer. Review norms for labs, and priority side effects in meds, when to report to provider, etc; anticipated interventions in acute situations, etc.

Don't forget to look on AN for the stickies to study guides as well. HTH!

that's what I read as well....
