failed NCLEX-RN

Published

Hi everyone,

I took my NCLEX-RN for the second time this past Tue. The computer stopped at 84 questions. I felt really good. I took my time, read the questions carefully, used Saunders 3rd edition, and Kaplan 2010 edition to practice questions. Wed. morning I found out that I failed. I feel so dumb...... The hardest part is facing my family, my children asking, "mommy how did you do?"

Well anyway, I picked myself up today and went to Barnes and Nobel, I found the book, "NCLEX-RN review made incredibly easy". I skimmed through and enjoyed the cartoons in it (Need some humor right now). Has anyone used it to study? and if so, your thoughts. I feel at the end of my rope right now.

I used it to study for my nclex. I read through the whole book just about to review and then moved on to kaplan strategies. I just took my test for the first time this AM and am pulling my hair! I don't know what to expect but it shut off at between 105-110 ?s . But overall it was informative

Know your content, maybe that might make a diffreence. Because atimes will student make a mistake in of ignoring the content. I made a mistake during my Exit Exam on Hesi, later find out that my content abt the pathoph is very low. Now i start all afresh from medsurg to mental health to understand everything. Now am proud of my reading habit. I do a lot of question on saunders which really boost my knowlege. Due to the fact that NCLEX is protor by pearson vue, why cant you try EXAM CRAM. Do try to practice question in TEST mode, i think that will help to retain and make you think before you pick an option and the result after the test will motivate you. Hope this will work for you as it works for me. Are u in texas? FM1960?

NCLEX is a perfect world, a world where the nurse has all the time in the world. When you are answering questions you need to remember this! You never restrain in NCLEX world, and you never pass the buck. There is almost always something that the nurse should do before calling the DR. Most important question to ask when you are answering these questions is: what is the one thing that I can do for my patient, walk out that door, and know that I helped them! NCLEX is not the real world, and you need to be careful of this. Most of the time with meds that you don't know you can usually pick the right answer by choosing the worst side effect, but that does not help always. Do you have Kaplan where you are. They are great and really help you think in the NCLEX world. Good luck, and please do not lose hope. You are going to be an RN soon.

Charge_31, how did you know you failed the exam? Is it just based from the BRN license verification site? Isn't it they said to wait from 3-10 days from the time you took it? I took mine on Tuesday too and also waiting.

Thanks.

Wishing everyone good luck if they have tested and for those who must test again, good luck to you also. Don't give up. As long as you keep at this, there will come a day when you find out that you have passed.

Thanks for the website.:yeah:

sorry you failed,

I found this message that i have save and it helps me on my review which sometimes i read it, by PINKSUNFLOWER

"Regardless of the outcome, Im prepared and will accept the reality. At first, it will really hurt but it is where in ur point of life where u can see how strong u really are as an individual. Just think of it as a challenge for u to stand up again and have the courage to face the truth. It is better that u failed now, rather than passing the exam too early that u lack the knowledge and skills in nursing and would be a reason for your loss of licence eventually. I know it really sucks but then its not only you who faces this kind of trail in this stage of our nursing profession. So cheer up and I hope that both of us will soon be a part of our chosen field. And remember this: Failure is part of success. by pinksunflower"

It's nice, isn't it? :-)Let's spread the word. hehe

to KayBDT, you're around 1960..?

Hi charge_31:),

First of all, I'm so sorry to hear this and I can empathize with you as to what you are going through. Please, take a week or two and just grieve which will help heal your emotional and mental state. How did you prepare for this exam? Do you have test anxiety? Give yourself a week or two but no more than that and jump back up on that horse and get in the saddle.:deadhorse YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! YOU WILL BE AN RN!!!!!!! I am here for you if you would like to PM me and vent, I am honored to help support you. When preparing for the NCLEX-RN you want to select one review or source because too many can cause you to be overwhelmed=anxiety=blocks the lobe in the brain that YOU NEED to think clearly and remain calm during your testing experience. Do you have any support at home? I can tell you from my own experience family and children do not understand. They do not like seeing their loved one that they care about in sooo much pain and sadness. Please believe in yourself and realize each time you sit you have a brand new exam and forget what has happened in the past. Stay away from negative people because that will mentally exhaust you and you need your energy for studying and caring for your family. Attitude is all, I have confidence in you and if you need help figuring out a consistent study schedule I would be glad to help you with that. Sometimes it's all GOD'S timing which maybe he's preparing you for something later but we just have to be patient.
