Failed NCLEX RN in California in July..How to Retake?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just found out I failed the NCLEX rn in california in July? What are the steps to retaking it? I know we have to send another application of 75 dollars and do we need to get the nursing verification form again from our school? Please help me, I'm so devastated that I failed the exam. I just want to start again and continue to get my goal as an RN. I think the earliest I can take it is in September.

There should have been instructions provided with your failure notice from the Board. If not, then call them or check on the website.

just send a application form no need for verification unless your files at BON is already expire they hold your papers good for 2 years...

ATT is only good for one sitting of the exam, usually you have to pay the BRN a small fee as well as the fee to pearsonvue. once you have paid the BRN and the 45 days are up will you be able to schedule a new date as well as get a new ATT

You will have to send in reapplication form with $150 fee to CABON. Once you receive letter from CABRN titled "ELIGIBILITY NOTICE FOR NCLEX RN EXAMINATION," sign on to PearsonVue, pay $200 fee and you should received your Authorization to Test letter via email. Then you can schedule your exam date 45 days after the previous exam (PearsonVue won't allow you to pick a date before the 45th day).

No need to obtain transcipts and other documents (unless 2 years have elapsed since your last exam).

thank you so much for this information begosh

Hi Everyone, I failed my NCLEX-PN about a year ago and recently submitted my application on 04-26-2017. How long should I have to wait for my ATT after I pay the re application fee to Breeze? It has already been 10 weeks? Also, what are the next steps i should be taking after I pay the Re-Examination fee?

I have to re-take my NCLEX PN. Is the 45 days after the exam was taken or when I received the fail letter?

I have a few questions if someone who experienced this can answer them.

I failed the NCLEX September, 2017. I do not know how reapplying works since BRN does not answer calls and is vague about the instructions. Prefereably someone who took it in recent months of 2017!

1.) I did my Livescan April, 2017. Do I have to do it again? or is there an expiration date? I heard before that it is good for up to a year if it is for the same reason (NCLEX exam), but I have gotten different answers. BRN has new updates about livescans on the reapply page but it is a blank page clicking into it.

2.) Do I have to wait 45days before applying for the "retake application" on breeze? It does recommend 45 day period and wait for approval, but i dont know what they mean to wait for approval..

I was just thinking since I have to wait for two weeks for them to give me "eligibility notice" through mail, can I just pay so I am good to go when 45 day is up.

Retaking the NCLEX is alot of money and I dont want to risk it. I am unemployed, studying NCLEX. Please help answer these questions! quite lost and defeated by this exam.
