Hello, I am writing this with a heavy heart as i found out that i may have failed Nclex the second time. I did the pearsonvue trick and it took my $200 so i did not get the good pop. I am thinking of doing the hurst review and kaplan but am not financial able to to because I just had a baby and i had to spent so much money out of pocket because my insurance would not cover most of the hospital bill. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has taken any nclex prep that can help me, I would appreciate any help i can get, from study materials to study schedule. Also I would appreciate if anyone that has taken hurst review, kaplan etc can email me at [email protected]. I am at a cross road and i need help!!! Thanks
I recently took exam and it shut off at 109 questions. You know what this means?
It means the system determined with statistical significance that you were above or below the passing line and passed/failed. There is no correlation between number of questions and pass/.fail. The statistically average number of questions received by a candidate is around 120
https://www.ncsbn.org/courses.htm This is an awesome tool, I don't know why I hadn't heard about prior this. It is much more affordable than the others as well. I did Hurst and then while doing my independent studies ran across this and with all due respect to Hurst, I felt as if I had wasted money (however, while taking the test all I could hear was Marlene in my head, so I know she helped big time). This learning tool was exactly what I needed to fill in the gaps. Also review the test plan and use it to develop a study plan. Solidify as much content as you can without going insane.
After that questions NCLEX Mastery - The Number 1 RN & PN NCLEX Review Apps to drive in the knowledge. Give it a try.
:up:Good Luck!
What exactly is this candidate performance report and where can one find theirs?
It is sent via mail by your board of notice with the official letter notifying you that you failed the nclex. There is a sample on the ncsbn website. It specifies whether you were below, near or above the passing standard in each of the domains. You must be above in all areas. If you pass you get a license (some people want to see how they did if they pass)
Hi JustBeachyNurse - I'm trying to pass my NCLEX a second time, and I think my weakness is content. I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan, but I realize their questions are on the application/analysis level of critical thinking. I don't know if you have an opinion about the NCBSN 3-week review, but I'm deciding between that or the Hurst review. More inclined to the NCSBN review since they write the NCLEX (and they're a heck of a lot cheaper - $50 vs $300). Do you also have any recommendations for a book to review content?
Much appreciation in advance!

Hello! I utilized Hurst online review and LaCharity PDA. Hurst really helped me learn AND understand core content. Various learning styles work for different people. For me, I found that drawing out flowcharts to the Hurst lectures organized the information and made it less overwhelming. Don't give up, good luck!!
