Hello, I am writing this with a heavy heart as i found out that i may have failed Nclex the second time. I did the pearsonvue trick and it took my $200 so i did not get the good pop. I am thinking of doing the hurst review and kaplan but am not financial able to to because I just had a baby and i had to spent so much money out of pocket because my insurance would not cover most of the hospital bill. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has taken any nclex prep that can help me, I would appreciate any help i can get, from study materials to study schedule. Also I would appreciate if anyone that has taken hurst review, kaplan etc can email me at [email protected]. I am at a cross road and i need help!!! Thanks
I meant quick results. Any way I didnt just get cc page I had to pay 200$ . On other side when I checked my result for nclex Pn I did the pvt right a way and got good pop up. But this time I had to pay 200$.
I think the confusion you have is because the PVT, as you knew it at the time you did it for your PN, has changed. Starting in late August 2014, everyone has been directed to the CC page, whether or not they passed the exam. Whether or not they need a new registration. Everyone.
At this time, MOST of the time if you submit your financial information and it takes it, it indicates you did indeed fail. SOMETIMES, though, people who have paid $200 find out later that they actually passed.
The trouble for you comes in because you did the PVT so very early: TOO early. You didn't wait a full 24 hours for your QA review to be finalized, so you only know that it's likely that your first scoring (the reason your test stopped) was a Fail. Probably. Sorry....it's just one of those things that isn't 100%, so we're working off of best guesses.
At this point, there really is nothing you can do, as you HAVE paid for another exam, whether or not you will need it. If you are lucky....as I said....you will only have lost the money but passed the test.
Hang tight, and see what happens.
My nursing school paid for Kaplan and I found their approach to answering NCLEX questions less than helpful. I opted for Hurst live review which is a 3 day review course lasting from 08:00-16:00. It's a very interactive review and I walked away feeling more confident about what I could be tested over. Since Hurst doesn't give you a ton of review questions, I downloaded the NCLEX Mastery RN app and would answer questions after reviewing a specific subject (OB, Peds, Neuro, etc) and found this tremendously helpful! Good luck!
I came from China, prepared Nclex RN exam by myself. I failed the first time on May 2015 in 75 questions. I used Kaplan content review guide and Kaplan online Qbank. Iam preparing for the second time exam. I don't know failed in 75 questions, will i still have the chance to pass the exam. I completely lost my confident.
Hello everyone, I just wanted to leave an update about my nclex experience. I finally passed Nclex with 75 questions after failing 3 times. A special THANK YOU to everyone who commented and even went out of their way to help me with resources. I used kaplan and hurst my first 2 test. What really helped me pass was UWORLD QUESTIONS, and SAUNDERS CONTENT, ONLY READ LIKE 5-6 CHAPTERS. Uworld has questions and the best rationales out there. the best part about Uworld is that they give out 1 week free to access all their test bank, but be careful tho to make sure you are registering with the free version of their website. I thank God for making it possible for me to pass this test and i pray that He does the same for all of you who may be preparing to take the test. if u have any questions. pls do not hesitate to email me. God bless.

First of all congrats!!! And those are really encouraging words! I'm currently reviewing with only uworld. Do you think that reviewing with just uworld would be enough? I work 5 days a week and do not have time to read big books like Saunders for content. Thank you in advance and congrats again on passing!!!
Thank you enileg. I would recommend supplementing with saunders, this may make a difference as to whether u get a min of 75 questions or more. U dont have to read the whole big book just a few chapters. I only read about 5-6 short units, and read uworld rationales. To me, this time around the test look very similar to saunders question that is on the cd. I kinda wondered for a min if i didnt pass the first few times because i was busy doing kaplan etc which is more on the difficult side and ignored the easy but relevant questions. I HOPE THIS HELPS. Good luck you can do this!

I have both Mary Ann hogan and Saunders. I will follow your advice. Thank you! 😊
Congrats! I passed on my third time myself, I know how you feel. My biggest tip is to make sure you take time to relax a week or two b4 testing. I mean study but take time off in btw to let ur brain absorb it all. And don't rush it if you don't feel like it! Know what your learning style is. Youtube, videos, writing things down, and doing questions every day is what helped me after I knew the content. Do content AND questions. Read your rationales and know why! Review your weak points first, then review EVERYTHING as much as possible. The Nclex is Different for Everyone, you're not going to get the same questions as Joe A, or Joe B, so review everything! I hope this helps anyone!
I also wanna say I used Saunders, ATI, Kaplan CD and book, Prioritization & delegation- if u don't have the book, look up case scenarios online if you can. The one book I used before passing though is Nclex Exam-Cram- did both tests in the back & passed! I think all these sources helped me but I think Saunders and Exam-Cram helped me the most (book-wise).

love_nursing, you seem to be confusing a few things: the PVT is not something that is not available in California; it is only the fortune-telling side-effect of the online software registration program. You do not have QUICK RESULTS in California, this is completely different.
You most certainly WOULD care if you lost $200, because having your money taken doesn't "tell" you anything other than you donated cash to Pearson Vue (and they thank you for that, btw!).
The PVT "results" (not real results, just the guess) are most closely aligned with the actual pass/fail if you do the PVT AFTER 24 hours from the time you completed your exam. And it's still not accurate, but the best guess. BEFORE 24 hours (like in your car after you're done.....), that's a waste of time entirely. Means nothing.
Your first question, last question being SATA means nothing whatsoever. Neither does having many, or having few. ZERO.
