I have failed my CRNE written on Oct. 7, 2009. I did worst the second time around than the first time. I even took prep courses that I didn't take the first time and I also had the CNA prep guide and the Mosby's Prep Guide bought for the first time I wrote the exam. I did everything I can think of and I thought I would pass the second time around, but to my dissapointment I did even worst!
I am starting to question whether I should continue to pursue the path to becoming a nurse. I am currently in debt due to student loan, unemployed and starting to have financial difficulties. I honestly cannot think of what else I can do to become more prepared than I have the last time...without going broke and spending hundreds on prep courses...the CNO suggested that I take a prep course with one of the Universities, but I am not sure which ones are sufficient to guarantee me to pass. I do not trust those courses...either they're after your money or they're reiterating what is already available to read in any prep guides.
The length of time it took to receive the results was way too long and I was in agony...All the waiting is making me feel less qualified...I am starting to lose hope in becoming an RN...

Hi
I took the CRNE in June 2009 and passed the first time. What worked for me was I read the CRNE prep guide, (two editions) and closely analyzed the rationale for each option. I read it three times! They said that the prep guide is the nearest to the exam. You may be given a different scenario in the exam but the principles are still the same. Review the common diseases in Canada and at least read the compendium once. Devote at least three hours daily studying and answering questions. Study on the diseases, (per prep guide) that you have difficulty with, and of course pray. God bless.
