I have failed my CRNE written on Oct. 7, 2009. I did worst the second time around than the first time. I even took prep courses that I didn't take the first time and I also had the CNA prep guide and the Mosby's Prep Guide bought for the first time I wrote the exam. I did everything I can think of and I thought I would pass the second time around, but to my dissapointment I did even worst!
I am starting to question whether I should continue to pursue the path to becoming a nurse. I am currently in debt due to student loan, unemployed and starting to have financial difficulties. I honestly cannot think of what else I can do to become more prepared than I have the last time...without going broke and spending hundreds on prep courses...the CNO suggested that I take a prep course with one of the Universities, but I am not sure which ones are sufficient to guarantee me to pass. I do not trust those courses...either they're after your money or they're reiterating what is already available to read in any prep guides.
The length of time it took to receive the results was way too long and I was in agony...All the waiting is making me feel less qualified...I am starting to lose hope in becoming an RN...

Hi there,

Totally understand how you feel ...
because i'm in the same boat also~
i still couldn't decide if i should wait until June 2010
Hi yk2009, me neither...but is it still going to be multiple choice questions in June 2010? That will put me behind exactly one year...
I did receive a flyer along with my letter telling me about an "Enhanced RN Exam Preparation" in Hamilton, Ontario, but I live in Toronto. I asked the college of nurses if there are any recommendations to other similar courses in Toronto and they replied by saying "you have to call the schools yourself." I thought they would at least have some information.
Is there any other recommendations for prep courses provided by well-known Nursing Faculties in Toronto?
Thanks.
That's why i'm still struggling
b/c people said ONLY M/C till 2010 FEB
did CNO said after FEB 2010 M/C will not be the only format
i'm really confuse right now
I saw George brown has a two day prep course also,
I also ask the cno because i recieve my letter on the 18
but the dead line for applying Feb 3 is 16
they said i can still apply, but they will have to evaluate
I have also went to the the PASS RN site where people recommend
but they don't have any dates about the prep class for Feb 2010
so i'm struggling right now and don't really know what to do

The June 2001 exam will include several short answer questions. Part marks will be awarded for partially correct responses.
Anyone who is unsure of their ability to pass the exam should be prepared to register for the next sitting as soon as they have their results. When results letters are late going out the deadline is extended by a like period of time to allow repeaters time to apply. since you received your letter on Wednesday yk2009, you have already lost three business days. If your application is received too late, it will BE too late for February.
The ink on the October exam is barely dry. The review course dates will be set much closer to the February exam date, probably for early to mid January. There's much more to be gained by doing such a course closer to the time of writing, otherwise how much will you retain?
Rendezvous, Hamilton is not that far from Toronto. In a country where the distance between even small towns can be well over 100 km, a 75 km jaunt down the highly-populated 403 corridor for a couple of days is really no big deal. Out here people run back and forth between Calgary and Edmonton (296 km), Edmonton and Cold Lake (291 km), Edmonton and Jasper (364 km), Calgary and Banff (126 km) all the time.

Please review this link http://www.cna-nurses.ca/CNA/documents/pdf/publications/CRNE_Bulletin_June_2009_e.pdf it has information about the blueprint of the June 2010 exam until May 2015. In here you can precisely determine the structure of the exam and whether or not it includes short answer questions.

Hamilton and TO are not that far from each other. Surely you could do it for a short time.

when reps from my provincial nursing association came to speak to my class, they said the June 2010 exam will be only multiple choice questions and will only be a half-day exam as opposed to the current full-day exam.

Its about time...I thought the all day exam was WAY too long!!! It got kind of repetitive after a while. And you get so fatigued that towards the end I didn't even care any more because my brain was DONE.
