Preparing for a phone interview
Thank you janfrn for the insight, I will check that website out. I will be taking the transit, but I am hoping to find a place that is walking distance (10mins) near HSC. I am looking to pay anywhere between $600-$900.

Relocating to Winnipeg
I am excited and looking to start my nursing career in Winnipeg and I will be relocating from Ontario . Does anyone have good/ bad living experiences there? Maybe provide some insights on good areas to live in that are near downtown or close to amenities? I am hoping to find a single bedroom apartment/ bachlor or condominium to rent for at least a year. What are the well-known buildings that have this available plus laundry facility? Where can I go to find more information on renting? So far, I looked at the University of Winnipeg residence. Thank you for all your inputs

Preparing for a phone interview
Thank you so much for a wonderful detailed description of the hospital! I really appreciate it. Winnipeg downtown seems to have a lot of different activities to do, so I'm sure it would keep me busy and entertained.

Preparing for a phone interview
Thank you neonatal_nurse =) I will definitely prepare my questions and possible answers ahead of time. Pedi-Gree: I will be interviewing for hospital Health Sciences Centre. Oh yes, those are very important questions, especially when it will be my first job (hopefully) away from home. Thank you.

Preparing for a phone interview
I graduated in 2009, but the problem is I have no recent nursing experiences. I am licensed to practice as an RN in Ontario. I have a phone interview coming up this week with a Winnipeg hospital for a RN position in the Surgical Relief Team (SRT). I am really looking forward to speaking with the recruiter as I would like to know more about the unit and the hospital. I was wondering how should I prepare for my first phone interview as I am really nervous and unfamiliar with it. Also, what type of questions should I ask to the recruiter about the hospital in a different province? What questions should I ask to help me decide on relocating to a new city? I don't want to feel that I left out any important information after the interview...I also use "ums, ughs, etc." a lot, when I stumble on words and then I get nervous. Any advice would help! Thank you

What happened to those who didn't pass CRNE?
Thank you all for your posts and input. It was great to see various opinions and suggestions. The reason why I ask this question is because I never heard of anyone failing 3x and what they did next. I will have to call the CNO and ask about the specifics. At this point I feel there is a 50/50 chance, so really I don't know what will happen, but I can only be so prepared for it. I am not hoping to fail, but exactly what dishes said, I am figuring out what my options are. Afterall this will be my final attempt at the CRNE. My mind set is to pass! I really enjoy this profession and I feel that I am meant to be a nurse, but the only thing holding me back is the CRNE. I guess I am trying to figure out the "receipe" to passing, but I guess the best advice was already suggested here. I will be looking at my CNA prep guide, Lippincott and Mosby's prep guide and my previous prep course notes and carefully examine what the rationales are. Thanks janfrn for the input! I should have known that its not based on scientific knowledge, but more on how to apply critical thinking when answering the question. I think this is the area I need to work on most (exactly what Fiona59 said). This will be my third time writing, which is why I asked the question "what happened to those who didn't pass CRNE?" So, petethecanuck, you mentioned you were one of those people? May I ask what are you currently doing? Did you go back to studying nursing? Currently, at this point, I am seeking for any helpful advice, morale support and motivation. I am preparing myself for better or for worse, but I believe I can pass!

What happened to those who didn't pass CRNE?
I understand that three times is the number of times given to write the CRNE, but what happens if luck wasn't on your side? I was wondering what are the options if one was to fail the CRNE three times? What else can a BScN do for you? Has anyone ever experienced this to tell about it? Is there a happy ending in still becoming an RN? I don't want to think about the what if...but I can't help it. I am dedicated to passing, but even then, the likelihood of passing is still on the line. Greatly appreciate any shared stories or experiences. Thanks.

CRNE February 2010
Hi yahy, I am in the same position as you are. I too was working as a new grad during the summer, but that had to end abruptly. No matter what we still have to remain positive and motivated to study harder. It appears that other people's posts have been really helpful and supportive. I just want to comment on that. Thanks. P.s. I think I will have to get the Lippincott's prep guide. I had the Mosby's one and also I did take a prep course, but it did not help me succeed. So, this time I will be taking a different one in Hamilton from the college. Does anyone else have any suggestions on who to take the prep courses from? Thanks Goodluck to everyone writing in Feb. 2010!

Failed CRNE twice...
Hey kay_84, I am from Toronto. Sorry I don't know how to reply the pm.

Failed CRNE twice...
Thanks UWO23 for posting that link. From what I can see the CRNE will still be multiple choice questions until 2015. Wow janfrn, that must have been really stressful. I guess they did cut it down by a lot. I was told by my preceptors that nursing back then was taught really different and more hands-on experience compared to now. OMG jaylily, if that is true then I am curious to know why they are doing that? I think I am going to take the course in Hamilton afterall. Hopefully it will prepare me for Feb 2010 writing. I am really nervous about my final attempt...I have been wanting to practice nursing throughout my university, but this is the only thing holding me back.

Failed CRNE twice...
Hi yk2009, me neither...but is it still going to be multiple choice questions in June 2010? That will put me behind exactly one year... I did receive a flyer along with my letter telling me about an "Enhanced RN Exam Preparation" in Hamilton, Ontario, but I live in Toronto. I asked the college of nurses if there are any recommendations to other similar courses in Toronto and they replied by saying "you have to call the schools yourself." I thought they would at least have some information. Is there any other recommendations for prep courses provided by well-known Nursing Faculties in Toronto? Thanks.

Failed CRNE twice...
I have failed my CRNE written on Oct. 7, 2009. I did worst the second time around than the first time. I even took prep courses that I didn't take the first time and I also had the CNA prep guide and the Mosby's Prep Guide bought for the first time I wrote the exam. I did everything I can think of and I thought I would pass the second time around, but to my dissapointment I did even worst! I am starting to question whether I should continue to pursue the path to becoming a nurse. I am currently in debt due to student loan, unemployed and starting to have financial difficulties. I honestly cannot think of what else I can do to become more prepared than I have the last time...without going broke and spending hundreds on prep courses...the CNO suggested that I take a prep course with one of the Universities, but I am not sure which ones are sufficient to guarantee me to pass. I do not trust those courses...either they're after your money or they're reiterating what is already available to read in any prep guides. The length of time it took to receive the results was way too long and I was in agony...All the waiting is making me feel less qualified...I am starting to lose hope in becoming an RN...
