Hi yes I passed the CRNE. Therefore I know what a struggle it can be to pass this exam. The RN diploma program in ontario was a 3 year program which ended in 2005, after 2005 all nurses required a degree. CNO makes the rules on who is eligible to write the RPN exam and the RN exam in Ontario. All I am trying to say its not unfair nor is it insulting to the RPN profession for an RN graduate to write that exam if they fail the CRNE. Thats all.

Hello, I would like to state if it is unfair or insulting for an “RN” graduate to write the RPN exam then how is it fair for an RPN to be able to write the CRNE after only 2 years of extra education? Shouldn’t every RPN go through the full 4 year RN program to be eligible? The scope of practice for both RN and RPN is significantly different, and if people state in the hospital the RPN can do exact the same thing as the RN then obviously that is not right. Both have different set of competencies and both cannot do the same controlled act. I do not think the CRNE is a basic exam, it requires a lot of critical thinking and is an overall difficult exam. I am sure so is the RPN exam, but overall both exams require you to study efficiently. My advice to anyone taking the CRNE in the future, take the exam seriously this is your future whether the school prepared you or not you are responsible for passing the exam. You know the set of rules you might not agree with it but in order to work as a nurse in Canada you have to play by the rules. Good luck in your careers which ever path you may choose.

Also would like to say it doesn't matter if you fail the first time or second time or 3rd time, it also doesn't matter if you fail by one mark or 10 marks. you have to make in those 3 chances if you get a 4th chance then good for you but realize that your priveleged for that 4th chance and do not waste it. I don't think employers would really care how many times you failed the exam as long as you have a license. thats my opinion, not all nurses out there who passed are 100% competent to even begin practice. But bottom line you need to pass the exam in order to practice and for now nothing will change that.

Wow!! thats all i can really say after reading all the comments posted on here. First off you have 5 years to take the CRNE after graduation, therefore if your not ready DO NOT TAKE THE EXAM!! (Espicially when this is your last chance) The CNO has a standard that all nurses must abide to. The CNA specifically tells you which competencies you need to meet in order to practice. Yes the exam is very difficult, I personally believe some of the nursing programs in ontario do not fully prepare you to write the exam. But I believe after your 2nd time you have a good idea on what to study and what are your weaknesses. Everyone has a different reasons on why they failed and so forth, I have couple of friends who failed as well (3rd time), and they all said they studied and put a lot of effort. I am not in your place to comment but all I would like to say is keeping working hard if the RPN exam is your next best choice then take that exam fulfill your dream of working as a nurse. I do not agree with individuals saying the RPN exam shouldn't be available to those who failed the CRNE. I do not see this as a insult to the current RPN profession. I personally think they allow the CRNE writers to take the RPN because the RN is a four year program which covers the main content of the RPN program. I also believe its easy to say things when you have the license. To those who failed I feel for you, do not give up on your dream, if you have the option to appeal then appeal, if you can take the the RPN exam then do that, do not give up. As far as the 3 chances well thats the standard which you have to abide by, and most professions actually only get 3 chances to make it. yes Mosby's comprehensive book is useful but very detailed and hard to study from (in my opinion). CNA prepguide is the most useful in order to prepare for the exam.

In regards to rule/regulations you should check out CNO Compendium. (college of nurses of ontario) this is what we are told to study, you can download the compendium and it has sections. For example, confidentiality/practice guidelines etc...

The answer is actually #1 encourage her to feed herself. I picked #3 as well. The rational provided was encouraging her to feed herself would provide her encouragment and she would be involved in her care. I don't totally agree because it did say she is aphasic and she needs assisstance. Providing her pureed food will help her maintain ideal nutrition as well. Any other explanation is welcome thanks.

The answer is A. Albumin maintains colloid oncontic pressure in the intravascular space. When there is a decrease in albumin, fluids goes interstial, and one of the manisfestation being crackles. We can focus on anything upto you guys. Thanks.

Hi, the blue print basically outlines the exam, it talks about competencies, it has a glossory thats about it. The only reason I bought it was because I know its a new exam different from other examinations. Its upto you to buy or not but it doesn't have any questions outlined, hope it helps.
