Failed CRNE twice...
Hi I took the CRNE in June 2009 and passed the first time. What worked for me was I read the CRNE prep guide, (two editions) and closely analyzed the rationale for each option. I read it three times! They said that the prep guide is the nearest to the exam. You may be given a different scenario in the exam but the principles are still the same. Review the common diseases in Canada and at least read the compendium once. Devote at least three hours daily studying and answering questions. Study on the diseases, (per prep guide) that you have difficulty with, and of course pray. God bless.

Looking for Canadian RN exam (CRNE)prep course
Hi, As for me, the prep guide (3rd and 4th editions) prepared me well for the exam. The questions seem very easy but look at the rationale for each question and how you can apply them given a different scenario. Study the most common diseases in Canada, visualize them in your mind and relate them to somebody you know. Like for example,Diabetes Mellitus, I always relate it to the mom of my friend. I practiced answering questions everyday, minimum of 50 at first then 150 then progressed to 300 a day. I also did practice questions on the Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing and took the readiness test a few days prior to the exam. Above all, pray to God that He will guide you. Hope this helps. Be positive!

Any Philippine RN required to undergo SEC Assessment?
Hi, Thank you. I am a landed immigrant. The only reason why it took so long for me to process my assessment with CNO was the sending of the the documents from RP to CNO. I had to ask my sister to make a follow-up with my school and PRC. I am a second courser so they needed documents from my other school to show proof that I was done with the basics and did a four year university degree, not just two years. I was already here in Canada when I applied with CNO.

Any Philippine RN required to undergo SEC Assessment?
Hi, Yes, i took the CRNE last June 3 and passed and I did not take any upgrading courses. But the assessment took a long time to process as they needed more documents, more than a year actually. The documents came from the Philippines (PRC, school, former employer, etc) and sent directly to CNO. So your visa is a visitor's visa? Do you have relatives here in Canada? I know you will make it, just be patient.

Any Philippine RN required to undergo SEC Assessment?
Hi I am also an IEN who went through the SEC assessment. It is not true that Canada is allowing only rich people to visit her as we are only average-income government employees in the Philippines but we met all their requirements and provided documentary evidence to prove it. Do not despair as long as you have those requirements then you are on the right track. Keep in touch.

CRNE June 2009
Hi to all October takers You might as well start reading now and stick to your schedule, whatever works for you. Your job is not an excuse for not diligently reviewing. Have at least 4-6 hours everyday, maybe more during the weekends. I went through the prep guide three times, because they said that it is the closest to the exam, and I found out, it still is. I did not enrol in any review class. I started reviewing January and read the compendium, Mosby, Lippincott and took the readiness test. It is worth the sacrifice. :yeah:Thank you for this thread.

CRNE June 2009
Hi Sedo, What worked for me was consistency, diligence and positive thinking. I said to myself that I have to pass this exam. I studied, worked and took care of my family. I studied the rationale for each question over and over again and went back to my books or online for unfamiliar diseases. I hope this helps. Most of all, pray.

CRNE June 2009
Hi Everyone, Praise be to God! I passed the exam. I was worried as I am an IEN and I was thinking that I made a lot of mistakes when I went back to my books after the exam. I am so happy that I passed. It would not have been possible without the grace of God. I am just very thankful to Him. He has provided me with the strength and the endurance and I studied very hard as the Canadian RN exam is different, specifically on Ethics and Nursing judgment. The Compendium has helped me a lot and the prep guide, 3rd and 4th editions. Thank you for this thread. Btw, I am from Southwestern Ontario. I have not seen yet the results but my daughter just read it to me over the phone during my lunch break.

Hi NBmomto2, Congratulations! Answered prayer. Everyday I check the mailbox. Nothing yet for Ontarians. Meantime, I spent the entire time afterwork tending my garden just to pass the time.

CRNE June 2009
Hi, I graduated 2005, IEN and a second courser. I did a lot of review especially because I am an IEN and it is different with Canada from the country where I took my Nursing course. Were you assessed already by the province where you intend to work as a nurse? If you have been out of school for 6 years, I think you have to go back to school, as what happened to a friend of mine who graduated 2004. They based the number of years on the time you submitted your documents for the assessment. thanks

CRNE June 2009
Hi, I did not purchase my Canadian prep guide, 3rd and 4th edition. I just borrowed them from a friend and my cousin. If you have no other options, just buy them, it is worth it. I also borrowed two review books from the library. I hope this helps.
