I have failed my CRNE written on Oct. 7, 2009. I did worst the second time around than the first time. I even took prep courses that I didn't take the first time and I also had the CNA prep guide and the Mosby's Prep Guide bought for the first time I wrote the exam. I did everything I can think of and I thought I would pass the second time around, but to my dissapointment I did even worst!
I am starting to question whether I should continue to pursue the path to becoming a nurse. I am currently in debt due to student loan, unemployed and starting to have financial difficulties. I honestly cannot think of what else I can do to become more prepared than I have the last time...without going broke and spending hundreds on prep courses...the CNO suggested that I take a prep course with one of the Universities, but I am not sure which ones are sufficient to guarantee me to pass. I do not trust those courses...either they're after your money or they're reiterating what is already available to read in any prep guides.
The length of time it took to receive the results was way too long and I was in agony...All the waiting is making me feel less qualified...I am starting to lose hope in becoming an RN...
When I wrote what was then called the CNATS in 1994, the exam consisted of 700 questions in four booklets written over two full days. Every candidate received a letter with their exact score in it, there was no pass/fail. And the bar was set much higher... a passing score was 450 or 64%.
Thanks UWO23 for posting that link. From what I can see the CRNE will still be multiple choice questions until 2015.
Wow janfrn, that must have been really stressful. I guess they did cut it down by a lot. I was told by my preceptors that nursing back then was taught really different and more hands-on experience compared to now.
OMG jaylily, if that is true then I am curious to know why they are doing that?
I think I am going to take the course in Hamilton afterall. Hopefully it will prepare me for Feb 2010 writing. I am really nervous about my final attempt...I have been wanting to practice nursing throughout my university, but this is the only thing holding me back.

Does that mean the exam will held on two days
or just shorten it to half day but same number of questions
Because currently the exam is Full day from 8:30 to 5:30
and really is really stressful... and the second half of the exam
my brain is so tried
