Failed AANP today

Published

So I just failed my AANP cert. exam today. I am wanting to get the CE's done ASAP and reapply as soon as I can. When I looked on the AANP website, it said the CE's have to be done in your area of weakness, did everybody else wait for that letter (says it can take 4-5 weeks) or can I just do any CE's and submit those with my recertification application? Thanks for the advice.

I know the feeling. I just received my letter of approval to retake and am anxious to get it over with. I have been studying a lot reviewing the content from the first test. I wonder what the chances are that it will be on the same content or completely different? I must want the stress to go away.....at least the water works have pretty much stopped but the anxiety hits me when I least expect it. Just going to keep studying. Good luck!

ebkayaker- i got ur email and tried to reply but it states that you do not accept emails. how were u able to privately email me or send email to me directly? don't know how to do that. anyway, i do agree that you do not have to wait. send in the ces and application right away. i passed the second go round. my second test is totally different from the first. both tests have comprehension type questions. most of the time, the basic stuff that we already know is in the scenario or in the body of the question itself. then, the question is kind of off the wall, and that's what frustrated me. the first time, i only did fitz (book, cds, review course). the second go round, i used hollier and another review book. just breathe and take time to really read what the question is asking you. when i failed, i called margaret fitzgerald herself. the score is hard to analyze. she said it is based on the cohort or grp of people that took the exam. so if your cohorts are high scorers, you must be a high scorer too.

Sorry about the mix-up with the email. I just clicked on the little envelope at the top of the page and it allowed me to email you. I'll have to see if I have some setting blocked or something. Thanks for the info. I was a little frustrated at the info I received regarding my scores, really didn't provide any help at all. I too did only the Fitz review the first time and I have broadened my studies this time. I am hoping I can use the baseline knowledge I established for the first exam and by adding some new stuff, make up that difference into a passing score. Thanks again for the info.

Trying to map out an initial study plan. Did most of you allow like 6 to 8 weeks with several hours a day?

Ebkayaker,

Hey there, how did you do?.

I passed! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I was quite nervous and I'm just glad it is over and the studying that had overtaken my life is complete!!!

Congratulations! It's a great feeling isn't it? Now, off to find a job!

Hi Dixie Cup - I did not take your test, I took the NCC WHNP exam and passed yesterday - but let me tell you something - I thought for sure that I failed - I was all ready to fail - I had a plan to study harder, quit my teaching job and go work for an ob/gyn, etc.. - but when I saw the proctor hold up the paper with the letters p-a-s-s, I almost passed out! I still cannot quite believe it. My test did not "shut off" like the academy's does. I had to answer all 175 questions, and it was torture, because, again, I thought for sure I failed - I even went back and changed about 5 of my answers (something I tell my students never to do). In fact I tell them that failure is always an option - negative thinking is contingent thinking - it allows one to have a back-up plan. I feel for you - because I expected to be where you are - waiting to take the test again, and this time, to get it right - and you probably will. Don't despair, we're pulling for you.

Congrats ebkayaker.

Ebkayaker,

Just curious, was the retake similar to the first?
