So I just failed my AANP cert. exam today. I am wanting to get the CE's done ASAP and reapply as soon as I can. When I looked on the AANP website, it said the CE's have to be done in your area of weakness, did everybody else wait for that letter (says it can take 4-5 weeks) or can I just do any CE's and submit those with my recertification application? Thanks for the advice.
One more thing, for those wanting to retest ASAP through AANP, I did all my CEs the very next day and mailed them off to AANP. I received my authorization number approximately 3-3.5 weeks later so it is possible to retest fairly quick if that is your goal. I have mine scheduled approximately one month after my previous test. Don't want to risk forgetting anything that is still left in my brain!!!
I took all the review tests I could get my hands on and also took the Fitzgerald review course and passed the first time. I actually walked out and then COULD NOT REMEMBER what the screen said. I put myself (and my family) thru hell for 10++ days before I got the results thinking I might NOT have passed. It was horrible!!! and all caused by STRESS! Take time to take care of yourself and be methodical in your studies. Find a study partner and stick close to your support network until you've accomplished you goal... then the stress really begins (LOL).
I already sent everything in on Monday/ 3 days after. I did all the CE's from their website and sent in everything on Monday. I sent in a paper application. I want to test asap. I don't know my score yet. I don't even know if I want to know. Hope this helps. Also if you call them (AANP) they are very helpful. They told me I didn't have to wait for the scores.
OMG-13 points...The fact that you will be less nervous next time...you will breeze through the exam.... How many weeks/months did you intensely study? I graduate in December and have a six week study plan for the exam.
I listen to the CD's from Hollier and Fitz daily--but still can't tell you that I have "ownership" of the info. The Zerwach book eats my lunch! Thanks for the info.
By my math, if there are 135 questions worth a total of 800 points, each one (on average) is worth anywhere from 4-6 points. Looks like we were both only just a FEW questions away!!!! As I've said, on one hand encouraging but on another very frustrating that we have to go through this all over again for 3 stupid questions!!!!

After clearing my head a little I think my biggest mistake, or expectation, was that there would be more questions on the more common disorders such as diabetes, chf, pneumonia, asthma, etc. Overall I felt they did not give more questions to the common disorders, this round I'm looking more at "other" disorders and not focusing so much on the more common illnesses. I don't want to say too much but that was my general feeling of why I felt somewhat unprepared after studying for what I considered was a substantial amount of time. Anybody can email me if you have any other thoughts or questions. I'm retaking the test next Monday, hoping this one will go better!!!!!! I'm thinking of all of you who are in the same spot as me, good luck to all!!!!
