Excelsior transition exam

I am scheduled to take the Transitions test Sept 30, have had to reschedule about 4 times due to alot of personal issues. But I am using the Studygroup101 and the practice exams to study, as well as my LPN books. Good luck!

I used studygroup101 and practice exams. Studied for about 4 weeks and got a B. I was ready after 2.5 to 3 weeks to take it but had prior obligations to take care of. I just purchased the Saunders NCLEX and would highly recommend picking one up. As far as the practice tests, I take them right away. After doing so, I study each question and each answer thoroughly to make sure I understand the concept. Good luck and PM me if you have questions. Good luck to all.

Hello folks. I recently passed the health safety exam. Didnt do as well as I wanted for my first core nursing class. I studied for 8 days and managed to get a "C" using the TCN module and the practices tests. Im now preparing for the transition to registered professional nurse role exam. For this test im using SG 101 and the TCN module. Just wondering if anybody could give me some pointers. I.E.- how long did take to prepare, materials used, practice exam scores etc. I will be enrolling with excelsior after this exam and am hoping to take it in 2 weeks depending on feedback from YOU and my practice exam scores. So far the excelsior exams that I have taken are:
Developmental psych- 2/11 "C"
Sociology- 4/11 "passed clep" Was working alot so wasnt very persistent with studying
A&P- 7/11 "A"
Microbiology- 8/11 "B""
English comp (uexcel)- 8/11 "B"
Nursing health safety- 8/11 "C"
If anybody wants any advice id be happy to help. Ive pretty much have only used TCN modules and the practice tests. GOOD LUCK TO ALL

First of all congratulations on passing your exam. i havent enrolled into EC yet, how do i take health safety & transitions do i go on pearson vue website?

You must pay for the exams before registering for them(through Excelsior..very easy to do via website)...you will get a confirmation from Excelsior stating you are ready to schedule the exam...very simple process..it is all explained in email.

Congrats on passing your exams thus far. I'm studying for transitions right now. This is my first exam. I have the required books and plan to take exam in 3 weeks. You can take all the gen ed exams and 2 nursing exams before you register.

Congrats on your success so far! :) I studied for transitions for 2.5 weeks with sg 101 and the practice tests and I passed with a B. The test is really not that difficult, although there is a lot of memorization, which is where I could have improved.

Ya it is alot of material but I think I will do better memorizing info better than I did with Psychological safety on the health safety test where it seems more like a subjective analysis of info. I plan on giving myself 2 weeks for this one. At this point im just trying to get the exams done and over with. Not as concerned with the grades as long as I pass.

I am so glad to see that there is someone else in the excelsior program. I live in Ga, and was skeptical about the program. I wanted to make sure that the program is not a scam. So, is the program good? I plan on enrolling this month. Any advice?

TS41- What did you think was a scam about it? The actualy college or were you unsure if you could actually get a degree doing distance learning? Im doing the Associate of science in nursing program. Im a full time proffesional Lieutenant Parmaedic and would not be able to do the traditional RN bridge due to my scheduel. I utilized college network for my study materials. Basically all you do through excelsior is study and take the exams required in the degree. There are several avenues to accomplish this. You can buy the recommended text boks, take the actualy online courses or find your own study materials. College network provides a condensed version of the textbooks with the needed information to pass the tests. I did basically all of my general eduacation credits through excelsior and so far im on my 2nd nursing class. I have had no issues so far and it is very convenient. I also work in an ER in the city that I live in. There are several nurses that I work with who used excelsior to bridge over from paramedic to RN and they seem to have really enjoyed going through excelsior for there degrees. This type of education is not for everyone though. You have to be self motivated and able to learn the material on your own by reading. If you are able to learn like that then you will really enjoy the oppurtunity to go through school like this!

Hi,

I live in Georgia also. Graduated from Excelsior in April 2010, Passed the NCLEX in June 2010. Go for it! You will have a bigger hassle with the Ga BON than you will with Excelsior's program. I absolutely loved it!
