  1. No worries, you will do fine!! I took the first practice exam for micro and scored a 49!! That was after studying on and off for 2.5 months...I buckled down for a weekend and ended up passing with a B. You will be fine!
  2. Congrats on your success so far! :) I studied for transitions for 2.5 weeks with sg 101 and the practice tests and I passed with a B. The test is really not that difficult, although there is a lot of memorization, which is where I could have improved.
  3. I'm not necessarily recommending this, but I did not purchase the books for health safety or transitions. I made an A on health safety straight out of nursing school with minimal studying and a B on transitions with study guide 101 ( I only studied casually for about 2 weeks). For micro, I absolutely bought the book, because I did not have a base understanding, and I feel like you need that if you've never been exposed to the subject matter.
  4. Thanks for the reponse and info regarding information lit!! I am all about saving a few extra dollars any chance I get!! :)
  5. I know you said that you enjoy the reading, but for the courses that I have taken so far, I have used study guide 101 and found those guides to be pretty detailed and sufficient. The practice tests are an absolute. complete. must.
  6. Well, I was certainly hoping that I would have been finished with the theory portion of Excelsior's ASN program by now, but getting married and buying a house happened, so it naturally got deferred. I'm back in full swing now (passed microbiology with a "B" yesterday...wooo!!), and I have finally enrolled. I wanted to wait until I completed the humanities & sociology CLEP tests before enrolling, but I was told by EC that I would no longer be able to enroll online if over a year had passed since my application. So, here I am, a full-blown Excelsior LPN-RN student. Now for the questions... On my unofficial eval, my English & Developmental psych. classes were not approved or denied; it had a little note saying that they would be evaluated upon admission. I am waiting for my official evaluation to see if I will need to take these courses/tests through EC....anyone know how long those initial evaluations typically take? I really want to register the CLEP exams, but am afraid that maybe EC made a mistake on my initial eval and some of my previous courses may satisfy those requirements. Did your unofficial eval. differ from the official? I know it is a case by case basis, and maybe this a rant more than it is a question, but I am ready to get the ball rolling!!
