Excelsior Distance Learning Failing First Exam

You have to pass each exam with a C or better. However, you can move on to the next exam, wait for the waiting period and repeat this exam, or ask Excelsior to waive the waiting period and retake it sooner.

Judging from your other post, sounds like you're using The College Network's materials ... if I may make a suggestion, download the EC exam content guide and use that as your syllabus. You might consider purchasing a few of the textbooks recommended in the exam content guide, as well as notes from http://www.studygroup101.com (I loved their materials). Also, I highly recommend the EC practice exams -- you get two exams for $65, but they're worth every penny as both a gauge of how you're doing as well as great study tools.

You can do this -- many of us have!

You have to get a C to get credit. You will need to retake the test. People fail these tests all the time. They just repeat the test.

I agree with what everyone has said. I am a EC graduate and used some of the college network material. I definetly would not trust their modules as your only choice of study.IMO they just don't get deep enough in the material. Go to the EC website and download the content guide for that exam. It will spells out what you need to know and gives you the name of the recommended textbook and chapters to read. I also bought all the practice test. It sucks failing an exam but you have to be prepared. Those test are not easy and trust me, they do get harder. Go to the EC website and familarize yourself with their resources. Move on to the next test and pick Health Safety up after the 60 day wait.

Hi I too am in the distance learning and took micro exam today and didn't pass it now am looking for other materials to get me ready to do a retake in 60 days. After being out of school for 30 years its rough. hang in there

I too use TCN, I have taken 5 test and passed just using TCN and excelsior practice tests (which are worth every penny). I just recently found out about mystudygroup101 notes, which are only 10 bucks and useful, I have used them for the last 2 test! Good luck and don't give up, just keep moving to the next and worry about that one later!

Love Studygroup101 materials and EC practice exams are a must in my book. Also check out the yahoo studygroup files as well as the flashcard exchange site. Very helpful in my opinion...You have to decide what works best for you. Good Luck and Best Wishes! ~HUGS~ Traci

TCN = The College Network. They're a publishing company (quite overpriced, in my opinion ... you can find their products used on eBay).

ok guess I really wasn't thinking or putting th two together I am in the colege network they offer a 4 hour tutoring class one day a week thanks alot I have already paid for the first part that is why I have to pass these test but is it enough to pass the boards or clinicals?

Well, I have heard a lot about these study guides on yahoo and studyguide 101. I went to studyguide 101 site and yes, you have to pay for them. I am already paying for my education and i really don't want to pay more money out but on the other hand if it helps me to pass then it will be worth it. I also went to yahoo and you have to be a member with them to join the study group and to get the files and right now they are not accepting new members on the yahoo site. So now what do I do? I tried with my daughters account and then it said after I clicked to join the study group under lisa arend it stated that we have to wait for a confirmation e-mail in order to view the content and so now no e-mail has been sent yet. I don't even know if the sight is still available or open to join the study group site. What is the flashcard site?

Oh and one more thing...on my way home after I failed the exam, my husband and I talked about it and he said that there has got to be a way of studying it, it's just finding it. I believe that this website has put me on the right path to help me study so thanks to all for the comments and suggestions. I do know that it is going to be a battle and with every battle there is always a victory or a loss and hopefully I will claim VICTORY at the end!!!!
